The 50% off HBO sets was for 12/24 only. I was at the local BB today and the signs are still hanging indicating 50% off, 12/24 only. They should really remove those!

The HBO 50% off sale at BestBuy was only for one day December 24. Read the beginning posts of this link.

Ah, ok. I thought it was until the 30th... I even ordered the Sopranos DVD on the 25th and got it for that price, so I guess it was a 2-day sale online. Damn, lol.

I ordered Sex and The City Complete Seasons Boxset during this 12/24 sale. It was on backorder and I finally got the set today January 10, 2006

The problem I have is that in testing some of total 22 DVD, some of the DVD are scratched and when played, it freezes and skip. Have not gotten the time to go through all 22 dvd.

My question is, would Best Buy allow me to exchange this set for a replacement if I bring it in to the Best Buy Brick and Mortar store??

I had kind of known about the potential problem with this particular dvd set before from reading the reviews by people who bought this set on amazon. I was kind of hoping I would be lucky and get a non-defective set but apparently not. It is an expensive set and I don't want to settle for one with disc that skip and freezes.
I would rather not return to best buy by mail for replacement because there is that risk of being lost in the mail. Any suggestions?

I'm sure you can with their 30 day guarantee. Whether they let you in-store, or if you have to go through the 800 number, I'm not quite sure about.

I recently went in to exchange a christmas gift at best buy that had been ordered online and it was told I could not exchange the item but they would return it to the card that paid for it. I told them I just wanted to exchange it but they said that wouldn't be possible. For me this blew since it was a gift I couldn't just get something else, but you should be able to just return the set and then rebuy. Why on earth they won't let it go as a straight exchane I don't know, guess they would rather give a refund then let you pick another item...? Let us know how it works out for you....

Edit. Oh snap...just realized they won't resell for the same amount...guess your probably out of luck. Starting to really hate this policy

The Sex and The City set is definitely defective. I am not the first person to complain about it having some scratched discs and skipping and freezing. Sounds like I can return it for refund to my credit card but to place another order, I would have to pay substantially more. I paid abot $105 bucks for this set. I may just have to keep and accept the spots where it skip and freezes.

Same exact thing happened to me. My girlfriend is on season 5 as of now, but 2 episodes on season 3 froze or skipped. If it's only the 2 episodes she said she'll keep it though. If it turns out to be more I'm going to take it back right away. May be easier to just buy her a new season 3, than dealing with Best Buys crappy return department.
