But $7.99 is getting close to the amount I will pay for what I'm told is a 4-5 hour long game. Too bad Half Life 2 isn't $10 anywhere so I could play that first.

The system is on sale for $129.99 at Target (the same as everywhere else).
Target has started selling these in some stores early (either deliberately or by mistake).
Target does have the Intec starter kit for $24.99 which is a nice looking metal attache case with foam cutouts inside to hold your DS Lite and accessories.
Check it out in the Target ad this Sunday.

I liked the Intec starter kit for the DS Lite in the Target ad however. It looked to be a sturdy metal attache with foam cutout inside to hold the DS lite, cables, controllers, etc.
Check that one out when you can.

Try hunting for the previous edition. It's worth it.

I don't think the new cut was quite *sacrilege,* but it wasn't really necessary (if nothing else, it WAS nice to get the extras!)
