Has anyone noticed the difference in print quality between Kong, Son of, and Joe? The latter two are so much better than Kong it isn't funny. I was hoping with all the hype about restoration, Kong would look at least as good as the other two (which I believe have better elements available), but the difference is very noticable. It's sad that the lesser films look so much better.
Also, what do others think of the commentary by Ray and Ken Ralston? A lot of it is Ken saying "Oh! Great scene!" or "Ouch! That hurt!" Pretty unbearable. I could've added tons of stuff, as could anyone who had just done a little research. It seems like the two of them just sat down and winged it, with very little prep.
Same thing for MJY, except that you have Terry Moore talking about her dress and makeup while Ken gushes over Ray's work like a 13-year-old.
Too bad.

It seems that the formerly Best Buy exclusive set is going to be released everywhere else on 3/28. Also a movie only edition is going to be released that same day.

Some other interesting Warner release news... look for a movie-only version of King Kong to be released on 3/28 (SRP $14.97). That same day, Warner will package the Kong tin set together with Mighty Joe Young and Son of Kong for SRP $49.92.

Just got my poster from the Tin, and it really is a nice poster!!! I thought it would be some crappy little shit thing, but was a nice, full size poster. Going to get it framed this weekend and up on the wall. The wife is not too happy with me right now

King Kong (1933 Single-Disc Edition) in March
Warner Home Video have announced a single-disc Region 1 DVD release of the original 1933 classic King Kong for 28th March 2006. Priced at just $14.97 SRP this single-disc release allows consumers to enjoy the original RKO classic in all its restored glory, minus special features they may not want from the Two-Disc Special Edition released last November (which has gone on to sell nearly 1.5 million units).
For collectors, The King Kong Collection, including King Kong Two-Disc Special Edition in the special keepsake tin, Son of Kong and Mighty Joe Young, also becomes available as a boxed set, offered at $49.92 SRP.
