I used amazon.de and didn't have any problems (well other than Customs!).

Try this:

http://www3.cd-wow.us/promotion.php?..._1&affid=14282

$14 for each two-disc set and that's the shipped price.

Got mine through amazon.de as well. The first 2 dolars films can be purchased as a 4-disc set which will save a few dollars more. Of course you can get the premium box with watch, coin, film clip, wooden box for many dollars more which is what I bought. I find their shipping costs high but I don't know another retailer in Germany. xpoited also has the four disc set and wood box and they are reliable.

Again, the UK SE's can be had for $9.95 each shipped with this link. I bought Dynamite for $9.95 from CDWOW and got the German dollars box.

The thing that's preventing me from buying these ASAP is that since the Leone westerns are a tradition to carry down to future generations (As it was done with me) I wouldn't want to lend these SEs to relatives or friends because they're not region-free.

But who knows. In the future, technology may cease the region coding

After reading this thread, it's clear that eventually For a Few Dollars More, Fistful of Dollars, and Fistful of Dynamite (I've never seen this last one) will be getting SEs in region 1 soon.

What I haven't been able to tell is if The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is going to get a 3rd release with different features and content or if they are going to let it stand as-is. Does anyone know?

Also, will they be selling all of these in a trilogy or quadrilogy box set in region 1, and if so will they change the oversized packaging for TGTBATU so that it will fit in a box set with the other re-releases?

I doubt there will be a quadrilogy box set since the films have no continuous narrative. FOD, FAFDM, and TGTBATU were released as the "Man With No Name" box but the only thing that linked them was that they shared a common director and leading man. To my knowledge, the SE's did not inspire a box set in the UK on release.

I don't know how the current release of TGTBATU could be improved except that from a purist standpoint, I'd like to see the US cut as an extra and the original English mono track. If MGM had any intention of including those, they could have already done it. I kept my old MGM release of TGTBATU.

I recommend the German Paramount releases of FOD and FAFDM. They are newer transfers than the MGM SE's, have all the same extras plus original mono English, FAFDM is a longer cut, and they are English friendly. I settled for the UK Dynamite release for $9.95 even though it is cut because of the price.

I'm not sure why you believe the R1 SE's are coming soon. I thought that last April when the UK releases came out. I got tired of waiting and got what I wanted. I'm satisfied that as far as FOD, FAFDM, and TGTBATU are concerned I have the best editions available.

I must've misread the posts when I thought they were coming soon to R1. So apparently they are not coming soon and when they do they will be inferior to the German releases. I suppose I should consider buying the German ones, but so far I've never bought a non-region 1 title. I don't know if they'd play in my player, and I haven't dealt with any companies that sell them like cdwow. I'll add it to my long to-do list. I guess I'll hold onto my TGTBATU SE as it appears that one has no re-re-release planned.

I read that FAFDM will be one of the new blue-ray releases this summer, so we may never see standard editions of these films stateside. I've already pulled the trigger on the international editions as well.

They may be able to sell a few thousand copies on blu-ray this year, but somehow I can't see them passing up selling tens of thousands of copies (if not more) on standard DVD.

Digital Bits is reporting that all three movies will be released by 20th Century Fox on 2007.

What's more, MGM also confirmed with me that they're finally planning Region 1 versions of those three Sergio Leone DVD special editions that were released last year in the U.K. (A Fistful of Dollars, A Fistful of Dynamite and For a Few Dollars More) sometime in 2007, also to be distributed by Fox. Don't that just beat all?

Well, I hope that Fox releases them to high def next year as well because I got tried of waiting for MGM to get their head out of their ass and bought the U.K. special editions, which I don't regret one bit.

I'll gladly pick up A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More to go with my The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly SE I already have, but I've never seen A Fistful of Dynamite so I'm debating whether to blind buy or give it a rent.

Nothing wrong with giving it a rent first, but I enjoy it as well. I imported the 1-Disc version from the UK a few years ago, and it was worth it for me.

Jesus, 2007? At least they're finally coming. What the hell was taking them so long anyway?
