    Best Buy Customer Kiosk FAQ

    Q: What is the Best Buy kiosk?
    A: It's a customer computer kiosk/station inside each Best Buy store.

    Q: How does the kiosk work and what does it do?
    A: The most useful function of the kiosk is the access to BestBuy.com with store-loaded price. This gives you an option to purchase select products that your local stores may no longer carry. You can also do price checks on the kiosk by keying the product title or the product SKU without going to the checkout area. Another newer feature gives you an option to check on up-to-date on-hand counts (if the item is still listed on BestBuy.com) for product in the store you are at and the surrounding stores.

    Q: Where is it located inside the store?
    A: It's usually located near the DVD/Video Game/Music section. There is usually at least one if not two kiosks in each store.

    Q: Weren't some legal issues concerning with pricing with this whole kiosk business in the past?
    A: Yes, but it should pose no problem now. All kiosk now display this message, "This kiosk displays Best Buy's lowest price available between this store and its online national website prices excluding promotions and clearance and outlet center pricing which can differ between stores and online. Please see your sales associate if you have questions!"

    Q: How does the ordering process work?
    A: Older kiosk system: 1) Click on the lower left weblink and it will lead you to BestBuy.com. 2) Shop as you would outside the store. 3) You don't need to have an account to shop, but it is recommended. 4) Once you are ready to checkout, be sure to enter your Reward Zone account number if you have one. 5) The order will then be deliver to your designated address. 6) Once the order is placed, certain kiosk offers you the option to print out your order.
    A: Newer kiosk system (new/remodeled stores): 1) Type in the search box on the screen and it will lead you to BestBuy.com 2) Follow the same steps as above

    Q: What kind of payments are acceptable?
    A: All payments accepted from BestBuy.com outside the store will be accepted for the kiosk as well. Gift cards are also an acceptable payement.

    Q: Can I order backordered products?
    A: You can still place an order as long as it's not sold out. Since most heavily-discounted kiosk products tend to be clearanced/discontinued, backordered orders may not always be fulfilled.

    so i was curious...when you ordered robotech on bestbuy.com to be shipped to you...how did you get CS to drop the shipping cost if you tried using the "in-store pick up" option?

    You will have to talk to Customer Service. This option is usually possible if you tried to do a store pick-up and the store told you that it's no longer available (whether they sent you an email or product is not available when you arrived at the store). It will be harder to convince CS if your local stores are simply sold out of the product.

    I actually just explained to the gentleman I spoke with that I tried to get my entire order (5 items total) with in store pickup but two of the items weren't available at the store according to the site (they were grayed out). He checked, and told me that I did qualify to have those two items shipped to me free and changed the shipping costs to $0.00.

    I checked Best Buy after work tonight and found that they didn't have a single one of the sale titles in stock; an employee told me they'd only gotten one or two copies of each. Had hoped to pick up Evangelion, and even would've considered blind-buying one or two others in lieu of that, but what's the point of doing a sale like this if you aren't going to get a decent number of copies to sell? The frustration never seems to end with this company...

    That's too bad. Copies are not selling very well around my local area. Nevertheless maybe you would want to call customer service to see if they are willing to offer you free S/H.

    I had no problem with any of the titles at my store. And to be honest, I was THRILLED to see that Best Buy had some older titles (not old, but not brand new) on sale. Its rare enough that they put any anime on sale, but even more rare that its not a new release. Keep it up BB!

    Unfortunately, Eva is backordered online. I'm rather skeptical (given my very unpleasant past experiences with BB's customer service) about getting them to honor a sale price on a stock issue like this along with getting free shipping. Can't hurt to call, though, I suppose.
