The One and Only NEW SHOW Pilot/Preview Episode Discussion Thread NO SPOILERS

"Justice" - Victor Garber's back as the chief defense lawyer Ron Trott for his law firm, and he's fun to watch, especially because he gets a chance to be not-so-closed off with his emotions in his previous role of Jack Bristow on Alias. Kerr Smith is part of the gang as Tom, and he's a bit of a weak spot in the cast (also features Rebecca Mader playing Alden, a redhead with amazing blue eyes and Eamonn Walker as Luther, a formidable presence). The show is all about how the defense does its homework to prove their clients claim of "not guilty". I'm not sure this angle will work for an ongoing show, but Bruckheimer is producing it, so hopefully they can keep the cases fresh and involving. At the end of the episode they reveal how it all really went down, and whether or not the client was guilty or innocent of the crime. I liked it for what it is, but it would prove to be too reliant on the procedural aspect for continued viewing.

"Secrets of a Small Town" - This is the show where so many actors from previously cancelled shows ended up: Bob Warner from "24", Owen from "Party of Five", Savannah from "Surface", Angie Harmon from "Law & Order", Stilson and Bruce from "The Dead Zone" (future of show uncertain), Denise Richards from "Sex, Love, Secrets", Jack from "Jack and Bobby", Sean on "Threshold". They even have the Winnie Cooper for this generation, Lucy Hale (formerly of "American Juniors).
I think this might be a mid-season replacement show on ABC if some new shows falter out of the gate.
Angie Harmon is a weak spot in the cast, she just can't carry the emotional or subdued scenes all that well. Samantha Mathis out-acts Angie in just about every scene in the pilot. There are quite a lot of characters introduced in the pilot and you almost need a scorecard to keep up. It's a bit like Veronica Mars, but without the spunky P.I-in-training with an acerbic wit and pop cultural winks, or the fun. The tone of the pilot was rather dour, but given the subject matter (a murder mystery brings Angie Harmon's character, who is a TV investigative reporter, back to her home town, a place she hasn't been back to in 8 years, even when some familial obligations would have had her back, she declined every opportunity to return to her home town. Her sister is the law in town, but isn't all that well-respected, and she's on the murder case).
So you have plenty of secrets going around, both from the present and the past, that could have an impact on many people's lives. It might be a good show, but it could also get too convoluted and lose viewers too.

Mike "Hellboy" Mignola's "Amazing Screw On Head".
Looks like it's being aired at midnight tonight. It's been available online for a while already: http://www.scifi.com/amazingscrewonhead/ -- very funny and great voice acting. The basic story is the same as the one-shot that came out about 4 years ago now (or longer?) -- but they did a nice job fleshing it out for a 1/2 hour show. Highly recommended -- despite the fact that it's on Scifi (why couldn't it have been picked up by Cartoon network like the hellboy animated series???)

I actually got to see a few shows!!
Six Degrees- the cast is amazing with Hope Davis & Campbell Scott within the leading roles, and Abrams at the helm of the show. One of my most anticipated shows of the season!
Studio 60- I like Peet & Perry, and thought the pilot was very well-made! Plus, its timeslot seems like it will bode well for the show with little competition from other big-name shows on at the same time.
The Nine- I never really got into Lost, but my friends said that this has a similar way of telling its story. The pilot hooked me in immediately! So, now I am even thinking of catching up on Lost if it's similar to this!

This drama follows the adventures of a team of thieves who visit different cities to execute high-level crimes.
It's not bad at all. Still there's too many shows with the same feel .

Happy Hour was pretty bad, but I think that it might have some potential. Gotta wait until another episode or two. I liked the female lead, but it seems like she was channeling Grace from Will & Grace.
