Throughout junior and senior high school. Graduated 1971 with honors (as member of National Honor Society, btw) and majoring in art, english, history, science, and math (although I slacked off my...

Re: XLIII Random Pic Thread, The Knights Who Say "Ni!" edition.

I don't like assumptions in my math.

When I was taught "order of operations" it was that whatever comes first, reading from left to right, is what is done first.
Unless... other parts of the...

Re: Have you had travel plans affected by COVID-19?

Had to cancel a May month-long condo stay in Oceanside. SO used ABnB, who wasn't changing their refund policy's time period to reflect the changing Covid situation. I think ABnB was hoping there...

Re: What movies did you watch at school? (Elementary/High school)

For a few years in grade school (early to mid 60s), my school had an afternoon movie (for a quarter, later 50¢) once every 2-3 months. Early on it was documentaries like Nanook of the North and Jerry...

Re: Anyone Else Feel Guilty When a Nearby Restaurant You Liked But Rarely Visited Closes?

Well... I'm not happy about it, but I don't feel guilty about it. There is no social obligation that anyone must support anyone's business.

Re: Can we please get rid of this already (aka don't forget to "spring ahead" this weekend)

While there's movement afoot to get rid of DST, CA plans on keeping it year round. Meanwhile, a bunch of eastern states want to switch to a system that will put them an hour ahead of EST. And there's...

Re: CRITERION FLASH SALE February 25, 2020 Noon ET for 24 HRS

Was going to order the Karel Zeman Collection, but I waited until just before the sale was going to end. When I went to place the order it was listed as no longer available... not out of stock, just...

Re: Disney/Pixar Onward

Pretty much.

Amazon UK has been getting my money for Disney/Pixar releases the last few years. Just ordered Toy Story 4 and the live action Aladdin. The prices just dropped to £12 each... which...

Re: Do you still get physical movie tickets?

AMC A list member, so no fees. Use their app. Typically, we only buy tickets a few days to a week in advance. It's convenient, but the service is a pain due to their insistence you show an ID at the...

Re: XLIII Random Pic Thread, The Knights Who Say "Ni!" edition.

Oh man, I had forgotten about this device. It was the neatest thing. It was an VR based piece of exercise equipment that worked with your cell phone. It would move and tilt up-and-down, and...

Re: ‘Benson,’ ‘Star Trek’ actor René Auberjonois has died at 79

It seems all Trek actors who wore appliance makeup complained to some extent or another about it. Dorn griped about the "turtle head" and even Nimoy dissed the ears. It's a real testament to RA's...

Re: Best Buy / bestbuy.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I'll second this, although I would suggest checking your spam/junk folder first. First, It's the quickest, easiest thing to do. Second, Pretty much all emails I get from Best Buy end up there... even...

Re: How often do you ponder the heat death of the universe?

Current observational data indicates the universe will continue to expand outward indefinitely. The stars in galaxies will fade and die, and all galaxies will eventually be so far away from one...

Re: What's your unpopular opinion?

Yeah... except that pop-psych theory has been discounted for quite some time now.

In fact, if anything, those "silly games" do the exact opposite of providing an "outlet" for "pent-up" male...

Re: 4K TV Recommendations

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, they're a bit larger than I have room for. The space I have limits me to a maximum 50" TV, and that's provided the area around the screen isn't more than 1". Also...

Re: 4K TV Recommendations

Got a 40" Samsung that's showing some glitchiness on and off. Looks like every third vertical line goes black. Makes it near impossible to read small print. FYI, I use it mostly as a computer monitor...

Re: Dilemma: Thief at the Workplace Puts all Jobs at Risk... What Would You Do ?

Knowledge of criminal acts and not reporting them makes anyone who knows of them an accessory.

It sounds like the school may already be suspicious of the custodial staff. If so, they will sooner...
