Re: The Jaws movies. The Brody family probably were cursed to begin with

If Spielberg did Jaws today it would be a very very different picture. Spielberg just does not have the edge that he once had. He certainly would never kill a kid.

Re: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Abrams, 2019) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I think people just need to accept the fact that all 3 of the sequels are complete shite and would have all been forgotten now if they did not have the Star Wars name associated with them. Arguing of...

Re: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Netflix) -- premieres 10/26/18

Me too I guess I was one of the 5. Doesn't seem Netflix wants to keep anything around too long. Really liked this show.

Re: Ozark (Netflix) -- Season 3 Thread -- premieres 3/27/20

I would assume the contracts him minimums for number of episodes as well as maximums to give the studios flexibility. Not sure they are really doing anything undernaded.

Re: Yellowstone (Paramount) -- Season 3 Thread

I like this show a lot but I am not exactly sure why. I don't really find any of the cowboy-ing stuff interesting. Most of the main characters are horrible people and cold blooded murderers (and...

Re: Hamilton (2020) -- live production with the original Broadway cast

Seems like this would have an extremely small but avid fan base. I cant imagine this will have broad appeal, I couldnt make it through 2 minutes. of that video. Not saying its not good or people...

Re: Perry Mason (HBO) - limited series - S: Matthew Rhys - premieres 6/21/20

I think the what person do you want to be? is the entire point of the show. Ultimately I think it will show the redemption of Mason into the character today. It's sort of an 8 hour origin show.

I...

Re: The Boys (Amazon) -- Season 2 Thread -- Summer 2020

I like it TBH. I hope they do the same with Wheel of Time. The Boys might have been my favorite show last year it was just awesome.

Re: Commercials you absolutely f&*$ing HATE

I don't know if it's hateable as much as it is exceedingly realistic to close to the way HOA Nazi's really are. I would never live where there is a HOA in California they are evil. As bad or worse as...

Re: Swamp Thing (DC Universe) -- Season 1 Thread -- premieres 5/31/19

Just watched this on Amazon. I thought it was fairly decent if a little clustered and over the top at times. But seems like it would have garnered an audience with support. Lots to cut to put in on...

Re: Actors & Auteurs whose films you've liked progressively less (or more)

Tarantino... I love Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction and liked Jackie Brown and Kill Bill but I have liked each of his later movies progressively less and less to the point that I absolutely hated...

Re: What movie has the most opening studio logos before starting?

Didn't Spielberg do a couple movies where there was nothing at the start? It went straight to the movie?

Re: The Vast of Night (2020) | Coming to a drive-in near you! Also Amazon Prime on May 29.

I really really liked it. It made me realize how slow dialogue has become in movies these days, the dialogue in this movie seemed more like real people talking. I thought the ending was a bit meh, as...

Re: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (Tarantino, 2019) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Had no idea it was a real series. The character is very close to the one DiCaprio plays. Should have realized it though.

Re: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (Tarantino, 2019) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

It recreated the 60s well which I remember a little bit, but i HATED this movie. It was meandering and super uninteresting. Just recreating the 60s for me doesnt make a movie good. It was super slow,...

Re: Best Michael Bay Movie?

I like the theory that Sean Connery in The Rock is playing James Bond. The argument is pretty solid too

Re: The Mandalorian: Chapter 8: Redemption (S1E8) - 12/27/19

The Last Jedi is one of my least favorite movies ever, its just bad on so so many levels. That said I loved every moment of Knives Out and really enjoyed the Mandalorian so clearly I have certain...

Re: IYO: Have there been any movies since 1997 that you would consider a “classic”?

Seems to me people are just listing movies they like. "Classics" IMO are movies that are pervasive and cross preferential boundaries. Movies that are universally cherished or revered I am not sure...

Re: What channel that drifted from its original mission disappointed you the most?

HDNET was my choice as well. It was a fun channel. In addition to the movies they had a couple topless shows on Fridays, a GGW show and Deadline: Unrated with Katie Daryl (?) They weren't porn but...

Re: Killing Eve (BBC America, AMC) -- S: Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer -- Premieres 4/8/18

Thought the season finale was one of the strongest episodes of the entire series. It's like everything before led up to some perfect moments and really loved the ending. I love that Villanelle walks...

Re: Ozark (Netflix) -- Season 3 Thread -- premieres 3/27/20

I get a weird feeling this might not be renewed. It's probably reasonably expensive to make and more expensive each year and Netflix has cancelled shows that were really popular before.

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds starring Anson Mount ordered to series by CBS All-Access

I don't get all the hated of Discovery. I like it quite a bit though I dislike the main character. Seems some people here want to constrain Star Trek to a very very small box
