Re: Game of Thrones on DVD anyone?

I find it is a mixed bag on dvd vs blu-ray. Some Blu-Rays are vastly superior to their DVD equivalent, and some don't make any difference, at least as I can tell on my 49" Samsung. For GOT, I saw...

Re: Upgrading to Blu-Ray

I can't believe that I regularly find Blu-Ray movies that come with DVDs, that is less expensive then the DVDs by themselves. Lots and lots of DVD users out there, and I guess they keep the market...

Upgrading to Blu-Ray

What do you do with the DVDs? I am trying to keep both disks, and have to decide on which packaging to keep. Lots of my DVDs have excellent packaging so I put the Blu-Ray in the main slot and slip...

Re: Game of Thrones (S8E06) -- 79 minute Series Finale -- “The Iron Throne” -- 5/19/19

I did finally rent S8 from Netflix, and I thought it was great. No complaints at all, even the highly criticized too dark scene was okay with me. It was a night scene, yet I could see what was...

The Lion King 2019

Wow! I never saw the original, in fact I didn't know anything about it, except it was about a lion(right?). I recently subscribed to Disney+ (7 day free trial) and saw this was available for...

Re: Game of Thrones (S8E06) -- 79 minute Series Finale -- “The Iron Throne” -- 5/19/19

I don't have HBO anything, but I am sure the ending is fine. How could the writers, producers, etc. ruin the ending of the best mini series, to date, ever? I am looking forward to this December...

re: Game of Thrones on Ultra HD Blu-ray (S1: 6/5/18; S8: 12/3/19)

Yeah, The Sopranos is a PITA to handle, but since I only watch it once ever 10 years, it is okay. Beats the hell out of just strapping together the individual series in a single box.

re: Game of Thrones on Ultra HD Blu-ray (S1: 6/5/18; S8: 12/3/19)

I'd like to know what is planned when the entire series is packaged together. As of now the individual series are singles, boxed together as a 'set'. Hopefully they will put together an impressive...

Re: Bohemian Rhapsody (2018, D: Singer or Fletcher) S: Rami Malek -- Queen biopic

Best thing on the Blu-Ray disk was in the bonus section. The complete Live-Aid Reenactment.

Re: What's the point of a Blu Ray steelbook?

Hey this is an old thread. I only just heard about steelbook. Considering how often I look at this website, it is no wonder that I am 5+ years behind the times.

Re: What's the point of a Blu Ray steelbook?

Steelbook of The Shining, showed up today. Wow!

I'm slowly converting some of my favorite DVDs to BluRay. I just ordered 3 more from BestBuy (The Fifth Element, The Matrix, Top Gun), at prices...

Re: Last DVD you watched?

I had to order the Blu-ray version of The Shining. To great a film to not have a watchable version in the collection. For the most part, most DVDs look fine on the set, but Kubrick didn't seem to...

Re: Last DVD you watched?

I tried to watch The Shining last night. I've owned this DVD for a long long time, and last watched it about 5 years ago on a 27" tube TV. Last night on my 4K set with the Blu-ray player --...

Re: Major Upgrades

I cannot get past the long script that the site forces on me to load the page. I get a screens worth and then it pretty much kills my browser.

Re: Major Upgrades

I don't want to be tempted. :D

I once owned a 46" LG HDTV and an early Blu-ray player, and felt that the DVDs looked fine on the set, no reason to upgrade. The 4K with the upscaling Blu-ray...

Major Upgrades

A series 8000 Samsung 4K 49" TV, a Samsung 450 soundbar, and a Samsung 6300 upscaling Blu-Ray player.

I am slowly buying Blu-Ray movies to replace my favorite DVD movies (Gladiator, J.Bourne...

Re: How Many DVDs?

I bought into the Alias Series as it was nearing completion. It got to stupid for words and sold off the lot before I got 1/2 way thru it. Nearly the same with 24. How many times is it even...

How Many DVDs?

I now buy maybe 1 film a year, and am watching favorites I bought 10 years ago. Have maybe 300 films.

Been awhile since I've been on this forum, and am wondering how crazy some of you still are.

Re: Time for a new projector

Yes, good find, but a little late for me. I'm convinced that this entire unit will be replaced (hopefully more then a year from now) with a 1080p projector and probably the MitsuHC3800.

Re: Time for a new projector

How do you do that? Externally/Internally there is no counter display. I've never come across a remote setting that will display such information to the screen.

Re: Time for a new projector

Found out how to reset the bulb time counter. So now the annoying initial warning is no longer an annoyance. I can now relax and forget as "ignorance is bliss".

On Ebay is a HC7000U with extra...
