Re: CSI: Vegas (CBS)

I couldn't never get into the non-Vegas CSIs. The Vegas vibe is an essential part of CSI to me.

Re: The Random Political Meme & Meme-Adjacent Social Media Posts Thread

Actually I think the next logical step would be to ban OTC COVID tests, and make regular COVID tests available only with a referral from a physician.

Re: The Republican Party Must be Dismantled...

And there's a lot of misunderstand about what's being taught, in any subject really. Getting the "right answer" is not necessarily as important as learning how to get a right answer. No one cares...

Re: COVID-19 POLITICAL Thread

The anti-vaxxers' statements are even worse. Add in a "None of you should wear condoms either! Condoms don't even work! They're a hoax, too!" statement to that, and that's what you get with these...

Re: Supreme Court -- 2011 and beyond discussion

Honestly, if I was in Sotomayor's position, I wouldn't feel comfortable with people wearing masks and would just work remotely instead. That Gorsuch didn't wear a mask, whether he was asked to or...

Re: The Republican Party Must be Dismantled...

Yes, parents who only learned "tricks" to solve math problems with no deeper understanding of why those tricks worked had trouble helping their kids learn math that used new "tricks." A tale as old...

Re: Lord of the Rings series coming to Amazon

Months ago Amazon released a teaser image that featured the two trees in the background, so we're at least getting flashbacks to eras before the Second Age. They'll probably start the series off the...

Re: Do you have a will?

How much did it cost each of you to set your will up? I assume you had to do two will, right? One for each of you.

Re: DC's Justice U starring David Ramsey as John Diggle in development at CW

This is not a direct adaptation of any DC comic I know of.

There's a Titans Academy coming out now, so it's possible they'll pull students from that. But that seems like a stretch.

Re: The Random Political Meme & Meme-Adjacent Social Media Posts Thread

Especially if it meant just waiting a couple years and then you can eat all the Skittles you want.

(But of course, yes, a lot of people would eat poison Skittles rather than waiting a little while...

Re: The Random Political Meme & Meme-Adjacent Social Media Posts Thread

You have no data on their fear to compare this to. You haven't connected the dots. It was a good try, though.

Meanwhile, I think a 1-5% risk is pretty fucking high. Fear is completely justified,...

Re: COVID-19 POLITICAL Thread

And anecdotal evidence is a perfectly appropriate way to refute the claim "X never happens." All you need is one example to refute that.

That's what I thought about horse paste until I learned a friend of mine literally bought horse paste to eat. I don't talk to them much anymore.

Re: The Random Political Meme & Meme-Adjacent Social Media Posts Thread

Re: Minimum wage discussion thread

We're not going to learn any valuable lessons from this mess. I think 9/11 shows us that the days of us learning from our tragedies are over.

Re: COVID-19 POLITICAL Thread

This is bizarre all-or-nothing thinking. Masks continue to work, even against Omicron. Cloth masks are not as good against Omicron because it is so contageous. N95 masks are better. But a cloth mask...
