Re: Laurel and Hardy ?

Steve,

All four films, at least the L&H segments of them (as they were basically cameos in larger films) are on the TCM Archives DVD of THE DEVIL'S BROTHER / BONNIE SCOTLAND from Warner Home...

re: The Weinstein Co. [bidding for] the Miramax Films library

Although if most studios aren't even bothering with their own library titles, I don't know if anyone is going to want to handle the Miramax library, which has been available on DVD previously.

A...

re: The Weinstein Co. [bidding for] the Miramax Films library

The Weinsteins are in the running to get Miramax, but nothing official yet. From the sound of the talks, Disney wants them to take the library, but they are having trouble coming up with the full...

Re: Problem discs on The Wire Box set. Anyone else?

kvr, were you able to get this problem resolved? Did the replacement version also skip?

I'm watching the series from Netflix. Midway through season two I am loving it, but have found that...

Re: Question about - Losin' It (1983) / The Last American Virgin (1982)

If you are referring to the Human League song, the band requested the song removed from the film during the theatrical run. It was gone from, I believe, all the video versions.

The rest of the...

Re: Criterion releases for April 2010

Funny, I just saw THE FUGITIVE KIND for $3 at Big Lots. Since I didn't get it then, I don't know if I would buy the Criterion (even though it is a good film and the extras look interesting).

I'd...

Re: Which current stereoscopic 3D-DVD is the least headache-inducing on your HDTV?

Shout! Factory's release of THE STEWARDESSES is widely believed to be one of the better 3-D on DVD presentations, offering the film both in color and B&W (which some believe the 3-D works better in),...

Re: do you think blu ray will over take dvds?

Really?

In the town I was living in at the time of 15,000 our video store had a laserdisc section. The next town's video store rented lasers as well.

Media Play was a fairly popular chain in...

Re: do you think blu ray will over take dvds?

Just to clarify a few things about laserdiscs.

In the middle to end of the 90's, laserdiscs WERE beginning to move to the mainstream. Most retail stores carried them to sell. Both of my video...

Re: Warner Brothers New Releases Now Delayed 28 days on Netflix (New Deal)

I also wanted to add that WB also makes films available on Pay Per View on the same day as they are released on DVD. So, renting takes away from that area of income for them.

Re: Warner Brothers New Releases Now Delayed 28 days on Netflix (New Deal)

Actually, I think this move is the exact opposite of what you state. Warner WANTS people to buy the DVD. If they are renting it, they aren't buying it.

Going back to the VHS days, people weren't...

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Is the Julia Stiles film WICKED the new JOEY?

At Big Lots today, they had a new cardboard box of $3 DVD. I think 40% of them were copies of WICKED.

Not much new though.

What is the packaging for this? With 31 discs, are they all in individual cases? Are they divided into seasons?

Re: Warner no longer releasing Unrated DVDs...?

I don't believe this is the case.

Warner is about to release the unrated directors cut of NATURAL BORN KILLERS, a title they had in the past licensed out to another studio.

If anything, they...

Re: When, when, WHEN??!? Where are these movies???

The Stunt Man is still available. I wasn't aware it was out of print, but is a fantastic DVD. Used copies are on Amazon for less than what I bought a new copy for.

As for spending 1-2 thousand...

Re: Weird problem with Muppet Show - Season 1

Disney discs often have troubles playing in certain players. They have a warning often on the back to this fact.

One of my players has an issue with them, but others play them fine.

Re: The Official Big Brother After Dark (SHO TOO) starts 07/09/09

Someone posted what I think would be a plausible, and hysterical, scenario for next week.

Jordan wins HOH and puts up Michelle and Kevin.

Natalie wins POV and takes down Kevin.

Jordan has no...

Re: Tag: The Assassination Game (1982)???

They each star one of the stars of REVENGE OF THE NERDS and are about the same game. Easy to confuse them. Although TAG is a MUCH better film.

Re: Tag: The Assassination Game (1982)???

Never released on DVD. Hasn't been released on VHS since the early 80's. Used copies go for $60. Hasn't been on TV in decades.

I've written about it here:
