Re: Huh... nobody cares about S23 of South Park?

If this pandemic had had happened in the 2000s during GWB's time, South Park would have been calling it a hoax (like they did with climate change). They were far more right wing sympathetic back then.

Re: Movies you liked even more the second time around?

The Greatest Showman

It was such an upbeat, delightful surprise when I saw in theaters in December of 2017. I enjoyed even more the second time. Then 2018 came and really kicked my ass that year....

Re: Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020, D: Parisot) S: Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter

It's called, "Face the Music" by Wyld Stallions. It's on the soundtrack.

Re: Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020, D: Parisot) S: Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure had a Beethoven that could hear. I wouldn't go out of my way to deconstruct these movies. Just enjoy the ride, my friend!

Re: New! Improved! The 2020 Presidential Election Thread: It's Never Over! Edition

I just need to get this straight in my head: we have a deadly pandemic that has killed tens of thousands of citizens and climbing; we have the worst economy since The Great Depression with people...

Re: New! Improved! The 2020 Presidential Election Thread: It's Never Over! Edition

I'm concerned about this. Some might dismiss this, but Michael Moore's dire warning about Trump winning gives me pause. He was right four years ago and he usually has his ear to the ground.

And I...

Re: Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020, D: Parisot) S: Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter

I watched at a drive-in and it took a long time for me to process it. It takes two Gen X icons and involves them with Gen Y humor which doesn't quite mesh with the first two films. The humor is the...

Re: Excellent Adventure or Bogus Journey? [poll]

While I still stand by Excellent Adventure, Bogus Journey has a few things on it's side worth of note: It's a really original story, William Sadler kills (no pun intended) as The Reaper, and it is...

Re: Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020, D: Parisot) S: Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter

^^

I'm hoping the soundtrack for this is as fun and memorable as they are for the first 2 movies! They're still a lot of fun to listen to decades later.

Re: Star Trek Discussion (1966-2005)

Those are good ones too!

DS9's "Explorers" and VGR's "The Cloud" also truly underrated gems.

Re: Natural Born Killers--A Trite Relic or Timely Portent?

JFK, Natural Born Killers, and Nixon are all amazing technical achievements. This was all before digital editing. While I still find NBK morally reprehensible I still marvel it on a technical and...

Re: Star Trek Discussion (1966-2005)

What are your favorite episode of each other the classic shows? Mine are as follows:

TOS "Mirror, Mirror"
TNG "Deja Q"
DS9 "In the Cards"
VGR "Living Witness"
ENT "Observer Effect"

I think...

Re: Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020, D: Parisot) S: Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter

While I was being snarky, my point was serious. I've been volunteering at a non-profit movie theater for 7.5 years. They've shut down for the time being until they can figure out how to safely open...

Re: 90s Sci Fi Movies Discussion Thread

Contact is great! In fact, it's the last Robert Zemeckis movie I actually care about. It's a solid movie and one of the 90s best.

Re: Natural Born Killers--A Trite Relic or Timely Portent?

I prefer the theatrical cut (the DC has a scene that mentions Clay Shaw before he's introduced into the movie proper). But *YES* JFK needs a 4K release. So does Nixon, his most underrated film.

Re: Natural Born Killers--A Trite Relic or Timely Portent?

Seconded. JFK could rival The X-Files in terms of pulsating paranoia, and it's a hell of a lot more entertaining than the aforementioned.

Re: Natural Born Killers--A Trite Relic or Timely Portent?

That's true. And the Indian. If the film had stuck with tone in the whole film it would been a devastating social commentary. But, after Mickey and Mallory leave the Indian's home and hightail it the...

Re: Natural Born Killers--A Trite Relic or Timely Portent?

Maybe. NBK seems like a film that wants its cake and to it too. It wants to admonish the media's fetishizing of violent criminals by fetishizing violent criminals and use irony as a insurance policy....
