Re: "Huge" on DVD -- a must buy for fans of realistic TV shows!

Mister Peepers:
That could very well be. I don't have ABC Family, but their shows seem to be pretty typical "Dawson's Creek" inspired drivel. ""Huge" seems to have been an exeption.

I'm really glad you liked it, guys.

bigjim25:
This might come out wrong, but Hayley Hasselhoff is blessed with good genes. Her parents are good-looking people. I've not seen "The Secret...

"Huge" on DVD -- a must buy for fans of realistic TV shows!

Yet again, I'm heartbroken... I'm not gonna start a rant about how great TV shows get cancelled before they've given a chance to win over the audience, but it's clear that I'm in the minority when it...

I wholeheartedly recommend "Slings and Arrows" on Blu-ray!

I rarely make a thread just to recommend a TV show, but "Slings and Arrows" on Blu-ray deserves it. I'm not going to write a thousand words about how marvellous this show is, so here's a summary of...

Re: Looking for a specific documentary about drag queens (DVDtalk related)

Thanks for the link, but I don't think it's the movie I'm looking for. I'm pretty sure the review was written in 2009 or even 2010. Anyways, I didn't know there were so many documentaries on this...

Looking for a specific documentary about drag queens (DVDtalk related)

I read a review not long ago, and I'm 95% sure that I read it on DVDTalk.com. The movie was a documentary about drag queens, and it was highly recommended. It could be Paris is Burning (1990), but I...

Re: WTB: "2000 As Seen By" DVD Collection

Thanks for the heads up. $100 is probably not a bad price, but I was hoping for a lower price. Hmm, maybe I should just buy it...

Re: WTB: "2000 As Seen By" DVD Collection

Thanks. Yeah, buying the individual releases on EBay is probably the easiest way to get this DVD set. But it would be cool to have the box set. :)

WTB: "2000 As Seen By" DVD Collection

"2000 As Seen By" was a collection of eight movies about the new millennium made by different directors from different countries.

The DVD box set is OOP and was probably limited to begin with, so...

Re: "Due South" on DVD -- need some advice

Thanks for your input. I'm sure the European releases look better, but they cost many times more than the ultimate set, and I just can't justify that price different. Now, if they had subtitles as...

Re: "Due South" on DVD -- need some advice

Thanks a lot for the screen captures, lmwong1977. They're really helpful.

I think the PQ looks okay. The colors doesn't seem washed out and the sharpness looks decent. I'm sure there are some...

Re: "Due South" on DVD -- need some advice

Your two cents are appreciated. ;)

I'm glad to find love for the show in here. Even if the Ultimate set doesn't sport the best PQ, you get a lot for your money. I'm gonna place an order asap. :)

Re: "Due South" on DVD -- need some advice

Thanks for you helpful and thoughtful post, lmwong1977. :)

$20 for 11 DVD's seems almost too cheap, if you know what I mean, but I'm glad you think it's watchable. Too bad the UK release costs so...

Re: "Due South" on DVD -- need some advice

Thanks for your input, and you're right, the quality of the show is more important than the DVD lack of qualities. I remember Due South being broadcasted in Norway in the mid/late-nineties, but I...

"Due South" on DVD -- need some advice

After watching the excellent "Slings & Arrows" with the brilliant and sympathetic Paul Gross, I've decided to buy "Due South" on DVD. The problem is that I can't decide which version to buy.

Re: "Friday Night Lights" - does it get better?

Saracen and his somewhat geeky friend is the best thing about the series so far. Actually, Saracen reminds me of myself: I too was a jock and an outsider at the same time. I was popular, but I always...

Re: "Friday Night Lights" - does it get better?

Yeah, the pilot is my favorite out of the six episodes I watched.

I've decided to sell the DVD set. Hopefully someone buys it and enjoys it more that I did.

Thanks for all the replies, guys....

Re: "Friday Night Lights" - does it get better?

Thanks for your long and thorough reply.

The acting is good overall, although a couple of the younger actors seem to struggle a little with the many heavy emotional scenes.

I was very...

Re: "Friday Night Lights" - does it get better?

Yeah, I'm kinda bummed out by the fact that I'm having a hard time getting into FNL. I tend to like unpopular shows, so maybe I just have bad taste. :)

Re: "Friday Night Lights" - does it get better?

I'm not sure if you're being ironic here, but if you're not, I don't think a realistic style means that a show or a movie is realistic. It's all in the writing, in my opinion.

Thanks for your honest replies, guys.

I really appreciate that you, as fans of FNL, are able to give your objective opinions on whether I should continue to watch or not.

I'm gonna watch one...

"Friday Night Lights" - does it get better?

Let me just first say that I love Peter Berg's movie, and I consider myself to be a sentimentalist who doesn't mind pathos in movies and TV shows. I've bought season 1 and I can't help but being...

re: I am not seeing much difference between Blueray discs and DVDs

On my 92" screen, Blu-ray's obviously look better -- but, and there is a big but (no pun intended) -- a poor Blu-ray won't look much better than a DVD.

I'll probably watch 70% Blu-ray in the...

Re: Should I open my brand new copy of "Angus" on VHS?

I'm glad to hear that. I've always been a sucker for teen comedies, especially from the 80's and early 90's. Any recommendations?
