Re: Foundation (Apple TV +) -- S: Jared Harris -- Based on the books by Isaac Asimov -- Coming in 2021

The first and second books - and I think the third book as well - are not really novels but collections of stories that were serialized in magazines first and then put together.

What Apple needs...

Re: Best Coen Brothers Movies Ranked

Just curious if you were familiar with movies like "His Girl Friday" coming into Hudsucker. I find that movie hilarious and one of the Coens best and part of it is I just find their take on that...

Re: Best Cowboy Bebop Character

Definitely Radical Edward. I saw this when it first came out on DVD and just loved everything about this character. I am skeptical Ed will be handled very well in any live action version though

Re: Last Show You Binged?

Oh, man....BoJack Horseman is my favorite show. I'm rewatching it again now and just about to start the back half of season 6.
I've watched a decent amount of animation as well as live action tv,...

Re: Dragon's Lair - Netflix Live Action S: Reynolds

It does seem really strange to me. It's not like the basic plot of the game is all that unique. I assume this project is driven by the success of The Witcher for more fantasy based shows, but a...

Re: Watching "Babylon 5" For the First Time--It Get's Better, Right?

Yes, G'Kar also loses his eyes at the hands of the mad ruler of Londo's people.

Two scenes which really stick with me:

1. Londo standing at the front of a warship staring down at G'Kar's...

Re: Watching "Babylon 5" For the First Time--It Get's Better, Right?

I won't get into a contest between B5 and DS9 - I do like DS9 a lot but whenever I start a rewatch, I just stop before I get to season 3 when things start to get good.

I don't want to get too far...

Re: Watching "Babylon 5" For the First Time--It Get's Better, Right?

That's what I meant. I enjoyed DS9 despite knowing how Paramount treated JMS, but I've rewatched Babylon 5 several times and still haven't gone all the way through DS9 more than one full viewing....

Re: Watching "Babylon 5" For the First Time--It Get's Better, Right?

Babylon 5 is one of the first series that was attempted as a 'novel for television' and a huge influence on later serialized television - and, while I don't like to use the term ripped off...was a...

re: Evil Dead Now (D: Cronin, P: Raimi, Campbell)

I love the ED films and the tv show, and I ended up enjoying the remake much more than I thought I would. While I really want to keep seeing Bruce Campbell, I do think there's a lot more that could...

Re: How good was... "Newsradio"?

Normally I'd say this is the best single episode of any comedy show ever...but there were so many that are contenders on Newsradio!

Re: Clarice - The Silence of the Lambs sequel series at CBS

So...yet another crime show using a well-known character but having no real attachment to the original premise....

I did like the show "You" that premiered on lifetime, but it went over to Netflix...

Re: How re-watchable is The Wire... for you?

I think it's very re-watchable, although admittedly it's been a few years - I was thinking of rewatching it again soon when I catch up on a few other shows I'm in the middle of.
I thought it was a...

Re: What movie has the biggest emotional effect on you!

I think the movie that messed me up the most with a strong, visceral reaction was Dancer In the Dark. I've seen several von Trier movies since then (though not all of them) and haven't had a...

Re: What kind of horror movie do you like the most?

I watch most types of horror, but I'm a sucker for a couple types:

1. Lovecraftian influenced cosmic horror - The Thing, Dagon, In the Mouth of Madness
2. Isolation settings - deep space like...

Re: Cats (2019, D: Tom Hooper) S: Swift, McKellen, Corden, Hudson, Dench, Elba

Hey, I was surprised with how absolutely jam packed the midnight showing of Showgirls I went to was when it came out ;) I wonder what the difference is...somehow I think if they pasted some cat fur...

Re: A Christmas Carol (FX Original Movie) -- S: Guy Pearce; EP: Hardy, Scott -- premieres 12/19/19

It was a bit long, but I enjoyed this quite a bit. Seemed like there was quite a bit of filled in details that were never hinted at or described in Dickens' book, but I actually liked it being a...

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (12/20/19, W/D: J.J. Abrams)

Funny thing is I don't recall whether I've seen him in anything before SW...and I sure was down on him for how bad those movies have been so far. (Note: I was not one of the ones who thought Force...

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (12/20/19, W/D: J.J. Abrams)

I was just wondering if Adam Driver's career will take the same hit that Natalie Portman's did...I'm wondering if the release of this film had anything to do with getting Adam Driver's name out there...

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (12/20/19, W/D: J.J. Abrams)

I dunno, my favorite is "Hold me like you did by the lake on Naboo...." from Attack of the Clones. I've had to really work up my stamina to finishing the movie when that scene hits ;)

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (12/20/19, W/D: J.J. Abrams)

This is nothing new, unfortunately. I remember how horrible the fans were discussing the star wars re-releases back in '97 on newsgroups and then later the prequels. I mean, I think after the first...

Re: Burn Notice question (No Spoilers)

I find it's a show that depends heavily on the charisma of its lead actor and how well the three leads play off each other. I enjoyed the show a lot when it was on though I still have to watch the...

Re: Quentin Tarantino's Star Trek

That ship has long since sailed with Trek. My point is Tarantino wouldn't want his creativity hampered by 'crafting' his story into something else. I reminded of Harlan Ellison and City on the Edge...

Re: Quentin Tarantino's Star Trek

I really wasn't enthusiastic about Tarantino doing star trek. Frankly, his creativity is better used on original material anyway - the star trek franchise would hamstring him too much and a true...

Re: RIP Marie Fredrikkson, lead singer from Roxette

Roxette was the first concert I ever attended at George Mason University's Patriot Center. I have all their albums and I think the ones that are really shine the most are Joyride, Crash! Boom!...
