Re: I spent two days at Cedar Point

I'd say it was crowded. Lines for top rides were about 90 minutes almost all day. But again, I had paid for Fast Lane Plus which gave me essentially walk on ability at all rides. The only ride I...

Re: I spent two days at Cedar Point

I absolutely get what you're saying. MF has one of the best first drops I've ever been on and the incredible speed and exposure of the ride is hard to beat. My list is a reflection of my preferences...

Re: I spent two days at Cedar Point

I've personally always felt that MF is a bit overrated. In fact, 17 years ago I went to Cedar Point and actually preferred Magnum at that time. Magnum has since become much rougher.
I think the...

Re: I spent two days at Cedar Point

I have not been to Magic Mountain. Looking at the list of coasters, I'd say Cedar Point has a better line-up overall. I'd love to try Twisted Colossus, which is the only racing RMC as far as I know,...

I spent two days at Cedar Point

Cedar Point, for those not aware, is an amusement park known for having one of the best collections of roller coasters in the world. The park is an on island in Lake Erie in Sandusky, OH which is...

Re: How do you feeling about people spoiling the ending of a TV Show or Movie?

I don't really care. People get so wound up about this stuff, I personally don't understand why. I guess I just don't care that much about pop culture. Still, everyone's different and deliberately...

Re: Game of Thrones (S8E06) -- 79 minute Series Finale -- “The Iron Throne” -- 5/19/19

Soap opera level garbage. Obvious trope on obvious trope. Happily ever after moments that were seemingly created by someone who didn't watch any of the previous seasons. Mainly just boring. This...

Re: Tip for visiting Disney World?

My brother just got back from a week at Disney followed by 4 days at Universal and confirmed what you say: the crowds were still heavy but not the absurd levels of recent years. Disney is going to a...

Re: Game of Thrones (S8E05) -- 78 minute episode -- “The Bells” -- 5/12/19

I have mixed feelings about this episode:

- They have been setting up for a while that Daenerys has a vindictive streak, has been isolated from those who made her better and had reached a breaking...

Re: Game of Thrones (S8E03) -- 82 minute episode -- “The Long Night” -- 4/28/19

I largely agree with this article. Even setting aside relatively minor logical inconsistencies and the "tood dark" complaints, the episode arguably betrays the main idea that made GoT interesting....

Re: Game of Thrones (S8E03) -- 82 minute episode -- “The Long Night” -- 4/28/19

Regardless of the existence of fantastical elements, the show has always had strong internal logic to the way the world of GoT works: the limitations of people, the limitations of dragons, the...

Re: Game of Thrones (S8E03) -- 82 minute episode -- “The Long Night” -- 4/28/19

There's sneaking up on your unsuspecting brother than there's somehow being able to get through a ring of dozens (hundreds?) of zombies, slipping by a dozen of the NK's generals and somehow leaping...

Re: Game of Thrones (S8E03) -- 82 minute episode -- “The Long Night” -- 4/28/19

This show has become more Avengers than Game of Thrones. Spectacle and flash trump real drama. We've entered a consequence-free zone of plot armor, Deus ex Machina, cheap kung fu "this guy attack......

Re: 'Leaning Tower of San Francisco' has new problem with cracked window

San Francisco has a self-caused housing crisis that has prevented a proper amount of development for decades, made millionaires richer and forced out anyone not a millionaire... the exact opposite of...

Re: 2018 Winter Olympics - PyeongChang, February 9-25

At this point, I don't understand why anyone would want to host the Olympics. PyeongChang seems to be a vanity exercise for the head of Samsung. Regardless, my point remains: the organizers seem...

Re: 2018 Winter Olympics - PyeongChang, February 9-25

Reactions to these Olympics so far as a know-nothing American fan:
1. It's a good thing tons of wacky versions of snowboarding exist.
2. American speedskating has completely come off the rails in...

Re: Would you pay a fee to watch YouTube?

An example of the stuff I like to watch on YouTube. This one was posted yesterday.
1. On a niche topic that I'm passionate about: mountain biking.
2. Surprisingly...

Re: Would you pay a fee to watch YouTube?

I have really weird tastes in video content, so YouTube is what I spend my time watching. For example:
1. Firearms stuff. Available nowhere else, basically.
2. European cycling racing (cyclocross...

Re: The Toys That Made Us -- Netflix docuseries -- 12/22/17

I've only watched the Star Wars and GI Joe episodes as that stuff is right in my wheelhouse. I thought they were both great documentaries: tightly written, well directed, funny and informative. These...

Re: Would you pay a fee to watch YouTube?

I get Red as part of Google Play Music (which is the best streaming service around, IMO). Would I pay for YT separately? Yes, but only if pay to creators went up. I'd say YouTube is 80% of my video...

Re: Obesity in US reaches all-time high; 40% of adults and 19% of kids...

I have a hard time being judgmental about this.

I'm 5'10", 160lbs, a fairly "normal" weight. I have a sedentary job.

I eat a balanced diet and rarely overeat but I have to do a lot to maintain...

Re: Game of Thrones (S7E06) -- "Beyond the Wall" -- 8/20/17 -- 75 min episode

I have despised the last two episodes of this show.

What the show used to be about:
1. People acting in understandable and reasonable ways that seem right at the time who still get in trouble...

Re: The Beatles: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band 50th Anniversary Reissue 5/26

This thing sounds great to me. It's definitely a more "modern" mix, it sounds extremely punchy and detailed. In particular, the bottom end is extremely deep and clean. I think they did a good job.
