Re: "Audition" Reviews/Discussion - 2019 Horror Challenge

I've always told people that they have to get through the first half or so. It really does start off slow, despite a few crazy flashes, but I think it adds to the overall impact of the film. It sort...

Re: "The Prey" Reviews/Discussion - 2019 Horror Challenge

Should we get I Survived The Prey shirts made? That was pretty bad.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 15th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I felt bad saying anything because I frequently use your links and am very grateful for them.

Re: "Viy" Reviews/Discussion - 2019 Horror Challenge

I really liked this one for a couple of reasons. I liked the film on its own. The scenes in the crypt were all great. I liked the relatively slow build until the furies were unleashed at the end. But...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 15th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

There appears to be a couple of issues with the links for subset film The Vault of Horror. I first tried to watch via the Shudder link, but it appears the film was removed since it made it onto our...

Re: "Wer" Reviews/Discussion - 2019 Horror Challenge

I thought this one as OK. I agree with much that ororama wrote, principally the film losing me when it becomes werewolf grudge match. I otherwise liked the approach it took framing the story around a...

Re: "Final Exam" Reviews/Discussion - 2019 Horror Challenge

I watched this with a friend. I'll admit that we were a bit distracted because we were doing some organizing and talking while we were watching it. Because of that, I got really confused by the...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 15th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I'll be hitting 50 tonight. Where has the month gone? It is just zipping by. One interesting change this year, though, is I haven't gone on a buying spree to "stock up" on additional titles, as if I...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 15th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

For today's theme, I revisited Man Bites Dog. I haven't seen that film in a LONG time. In many ways, it feels even more relevant today, except now a nut job doesn't need a film crew to follow him...

Re: The Mummy's Curse, The House That Screamed, Wes Craven's New Nightmare - 2019 Horror Challenge

I have managed to catch two of these titles this challenge. The House That Screamed was a first-time view, but I liked it. It was a lot of atmosphere and took its time, but I didn't mind. It's one...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 15th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

This is a rough week for me. I had to stay late for work Monday, have my regular Tuesday night piano lesson, and then have to stay late for work again Wednesday. I really need to pick up the pace...

Re: "The Faculty" Reviews/Discussion - 2019 Horror Challenge

We did. As I remember it, they introduced the people and then they didn't stay around for too much longer after that. But it was still fun for me and my friend to go.

Yeah, I went to a...

Re: "976-EVIL" Reviews/Discussion - 2019 Horror Challenge

Not my first time watching this one and still not a fan. Something always just feels a little bit off about this movie - and not in a good way - whether it be the over the top acting or poor effects....

Re: "The Faculty" Reviews/Discussion - 2019 Horror Challenge

I forgot to mention anything about the cast. They really got their hands on some great actors, especially on the teacher side. And the students had some good names as well. I just think it's...

Re: "The Faculty" Reviews/Discussion - 2019 Horror Challenge

I'll always have a soft spot for this movie because I went to a premiere of this when I was living in Austin. I don't think I've seen it since then. I can't believe how long ago that was! It was a...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 15th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I was hoping to get a couple more movies in today. I was fortunate/unfortunate enough to be able to leave work early today. I seemed to have slept wrong last night and woke up with a sore neck and...

Re: "Monster House" Reviews/Discussion - 2019 Horror Challenge

I like this movie well enough. I acknowledge issues with it, but it's still a fairly likable film in spite of itself. I'm surprised it's one that most of my friends seem to like as well. I had a...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 15th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I remember it got very mediocre reviews when it came out. I watched it a couple of times on cable. I seem to remember it was watchable but not all that memorable. Come to think of it, about the only...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 15th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

One thing I love about this genre is how quirky it can be. There are some really odd horror movies out there. It makes even some bad movies very watchable.

Re: "A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master" Reviews/Discussion - 2019 Horror Challenge

I decided to get this one out of the way early. I would basically rank it right at its number in the series. I'd put it behind the first, third and New Nightmare. It has a lot of great elements in...

Re: "Zombi 2" Reviews/Discussion - 2019 Horror Challenge

I have a weird relationship with this movie. As a kid of the '80s, I vividly remember seeing the VHS cover prominently displayed at rental places, but I was too young for my parents to let my watch...

Re: "Phenomena" Reviews/Discussion - 2019 Horror Challenge

It's not a perfect film, but I sure have fun with everything that gets thrown into the mix. It's not enough to be a slasher/giallo, you need to throw in the bugs, deformed child and knife-happy...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 15th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

My mind is there, but my numbers are a bit slow going early on. I had a couple of birthdays I needed to do things for this weekend, so that cut into some time. I'm already worried because I'll be...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 15th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I was slow to start watching anything last night as I was dealing with my plants and being lazy and indecisive. In the process, I watched a few minutes of 20/20 and naturally got sucked in. I...
