Re: Coppola or Kubrick?

Coppola for me. He's one of my absolute favorite directors. And The Godfather films are actually a little futher down my list of Coppola faves than one might assume. The Conversation is a fantastic...

Re: Oliver Stone or Spike Lee?

I like "Do Tha Right Thing" more than any of Stones films, but I like more of Stone's films than Spike's, so I'll vote for Stone.

Re: Ridley Scott or James Cameron?

I like Ridley better. He keeps producing well-made and interesting films, time and time again.

Re: Spielberg or Scorsese?

I had trouble with this one so I used this equation using my three faves from each man:

Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Raging Bull > Jaws, Raider of the Lost Ark, Saving Private Ryan

Re: P.T. Anderson vs Frank Darabont

Going with PT because Punch Drunk Love and There Will Be Blood rose so quickly into my list of all time faves. There Will Be Blood might even be top 5. I liked it that much. Frank makes good films...

Re: John Hughes or Cameron Crowe

I love Almost Famous and Vanilla Sky but have little use for Crowe's other films. I vote for Hughes. A stronger overall body of work.

Re: Wes Anderson or Judd Apatow?

Funny People was such a piece of trash. I fell asleep for 20 minutes during it and didn't miss a thing. What an unfunny, overlong BORE. I did enjoy 40 Yr Virgin and Knocked Up, though. But...

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

My store got a few new titles in.

I picked up:

Psycho II, III, IV triple feature
Serena 10th Anniversary edition (it's for my wife, I swear)
Blazing Saddles

Re: When the score detracts from the film

The Lady From Shanghai.

Welles hated it, and I agree.

Re: Hollywood Video/Movie Gallery Bankruptcy-Store Closing Thread-2010

When the local Hollywood Videos started closing their doors I wrote a fitting epitaph for the chain that had come to our town and drove all our local mom & pop video stores out of business.

DIE,...

Re: Inception (Nolan, 2010)- The Reviews Thread

Okay, planned on going back to see the film properly tonight. Got in my car to leave and my glasses broke, right on my face without me even touching them.

Seriously.

I think some kind of...

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Watched first half of Godfather. Haven't watched the DVD in quite a while. Might have to upgrade to the Coppola restoration. Doesn't look so hot.

Re: Evidence that the R&R Hall of Fame is a sham

Kiss, Iron Maiden, Yes and Rush are MUSTS.

Kiss wrote great songs. They are not Britney Spears. They are the real deal. Or was.

Re: The Crazies (2010) --- Dir: Breck Eisner -- The Reviews Thread

I rented this last weekend. Not bad. I'll probably forget all about it in time, but I enjoyed it while I watched it.

Re: GROWN UPS('10)w/Sandler,Spade,Rock,Schneider,Hayek,Rudolph & (WTF?) P.T. Anderson

I am generally not a Sandler/Spade/Schneider fan, but we saw this one a few weeks back and although the story was certainly thin, the movie delivered solid entertainment. The audience were laughing...

Re: Your Favorite Hitchcock Film

I think I have to declare a tie between “Vertigo” and “The Man Who Knew Too Much” (remake) as my favorite of all Hitchcock films. "The Man..." has its flaws, but I just really enjoy it. Doris Day is...

Re: Question about Brian Wilson's "That Lucky Old Sun"

Sorry I'm late!

The freebie bonus DVD contains only a couple of “live in the studio” performances, the same ones that can be found on the formal DVD release. It only runs about 10 minutes, I...

Re: Hollywood Video/Movie Gallery Bankruptcy-Store Closing Thread-2010

I just work away at it with my thumb nail. It takes time and patience. A dab of Goo-Gone is needed sometimes too, but just the tiniest drop or else the paper will get too wet and look crappy. I...
