Re: WandaVision (S1E08) - “Previously On” - 2/26/21

Don’t miss the post credit scene!

lot of exposition this time but it was really needed to fill in some blanks and sets up a killer showdown next week which feels like it’s gonna have to be 90...

Re: Rush Limbaugh has died

The architect of so much of America’s ignorance and hate. Other than Trump, and probably Murdoch, there’s no one person more responsible for the coarsening of debate these last 30 years. I could say...

Re: 78th Golden Globe Awards Movie Nominations/Discussions

Mank was a tremendous disappointment for me, with a miscast Oldman playing an unlikable character we're never given a reason to be interested in and a choppy script and a wilful misinterpretation of...

Incredible Shrinking Woman - I don’t know why but the garbage disposal scene in this really got me, plus the whole scary notion of shrinking away

Episode 4: OK, *now* we’re going somewhere! https://groups.tapatalk-cdn.com/smilies/14825/1534639289.6487-smiley.gif Lots of good stuff here and great guest stars.

Re: I’m Thinking of Ending Things (D: Charlie Kaufman) S: Plemons, Collette, Thewlis, Buckley -- Netflix

Finally got around to watching this. I liked it quite a lot until the final 20 minutes or so when it just went off a surreal cliff for me. Prior to that it had a real interesting David Lynch vibe I...

re: WandaVision (S1E03) - "Now in Color" - 1/22/21

Better than the first two, but still way overdoing the sitcom stuff, which could’ve been fine for one episode and let the mystery kick in. Why sitcoms anyway? Has it EVER been shown that Wanda...

Re: The Official Biden Presidency Thread

Just feeling relief.

I think it’s been like a hostage movie for the last four years and we’re all only just now realising how bad it was.

Re: Phil Spector - Dead at 81

A truly awful human being who helped make some of the greatest pop music of all time... It's a textbook example of love the art, hate the artist. I do remember reading a biography of him years ago...

re: WandaVision (S1E01/E02) - "Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience" / "Don't Touch That Dial" - 1/15/21

This review really sums up my own problems with the first two episodes:

re: WandaVision (S1E01/E02) - "Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience" / "Don't Touch That Dial" - 1/15/21

I have to admit to being fairly underwhelmed. The sitcom schtick got very old very fast for me, and while Olsen and Bettany are quite game, this doesn’t “feel” much like the same characters at all. I...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery (S3E13) -- Season Finale -- "That Hope is You Part 2" -- 1/7/21

I think I'm finally done. This season had its moments (mostly anything NOT involving Michael) but the logic holes and the show's continuing insistence on bludgeoning us to care for the characters...

Re: Cobra Kai (now on Netflix) — Season 3 Thread — premieres 1/1/21

Very silly but compulsively watchable 3rd season. I feel like it got a little bit more fantastic and over-the-top (starting with the school clash at the end of Season 2), though. In the last few...

Re: Director Michael Apted dead at 79

Rather dismissive way to talk about one of the greatest documentary projects in film history. And yes, I'm sure it wasn't smooth sailing for all the participants, but the work itself is an absolute...

Re: The CW/DC Shows News, Rumors Thread (Arrowverse, etc.) -- potential spoilers

I was a fan of Arrow pretty much the whole ride even at its worst but have to admit I had zero excitement for this. As, obviously, did the network.

re: RIP Tanya Roberts Dead at age 65 [UPDATE: Dead for the second time]

This is reminding me of when Tom Petty died, and I was working in a newsroom, and he died and wasn't dead and died several times over the course of a day or so. :(

re: RIP Tanya Roberts Dead at age 65 [UPDATE: Dead for the second time]

I’ll still stick up for View To A Kill as one of my fave Bonds (first I ever saw!) and Sheena and Beastmaster are B movie classics. 65 is not that old, just sad to see. RIP.

Re: The Election 2020 Results Discussion Thread

Serious answer - What does stuff from 60 and 72 years ago really have to do with the traitor trying to run a coup in 2020, other than to say "other people have done bad stuff, too"? There's been many...

Re: The Election 2020 Results Discussion Thread

I wonder if they can vote to censure the President. Less time and expense of a whole impeachment trial but sends a message. They've done it before to other senators etc.
