Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

George Lucas is the creator and visionary, and is the only one that truly can deliver what Star Wars is to me. That's been proven three times over now (though TFA was solid fan fiction). But again,...

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

The prequels are superior in every way, and it isn't close. I'd give anything to know George's ideas for 7, 8, and 9.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I thought it was a shit show except the Luke/Kylo scenes towards the end. And what's up with all of the false endings? And the actual ending was the worst of them all. I'm a George Lucas fanboy and...

Re: The 88th Academy Awards --> 2016 Awards Show Discussion

I haven't seen 45 Years, but Blanchett deserves it by default over the others. None were great.

Re: The 88th Academy Awards --> 2016 Awards Show Discussion

Jason Mitchell deserves to be there as much, if not more, than anybody in my view. I would not have been upset if Samuel L. Jackson had gotten a nom for The Hateful Eight either. He was great in it.

Re: The 88th Academy Awards --> 2016 Awards Show Discussion

I'm happy Mark Rylance won. Bridge of Spies was a bright spot in a down year for film in my opinion, and he deserves to be recognized for his performance.

Re: The 88th Academy Awards --> 2016 Awards Show Discussion

In general, this is far from the case in my opinion. He was better tonight though. Mainly because he wasn't being his usual self.

Re: The 88th Academy Awards --> 2016 Awards Show Discussion

This reminds me that I need to catch Anomalisa. A Charlie Kaufman animated film is something I must see.

Re: The 88th Academy Awards --> 2016 Awards Show Discussion

I have almost seen every nominee except Mad Max. It looks like I have to fix that immediately.

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

Top Rank's Friday Night Knockout shows have been excellent, and tonight is no different. I was a little bummed by Friday Night Fights ending, but those fights are sloppy, and usually feature no...

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

I'm so thrilled for boxing right now. Mayweather-Pacquiao surpassed my wildest expectations with 4.4 million PPV buys. At $90-100 a piece, that is absolutely insane. And a week after that fight was...

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

I can't see Manny winning on points legitimately only because I don't think he can win 7 rounds or score enough knockdowns. But I totally disagree that the judges won't rob Floyd. There were judges...

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

My excitement is through the roof. I want Floyd to win, and believe he will, but Manny is so confident right now. I think at least the first 4-5 rounds will live up to the hype before Mayweather...

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

Yeah, I think Saul is done. The whole PBC on ESPN thing is bittersweet for me. I'm going to enjoy high level boxing on ABC and ESPN (as opposed to ESPN2), and increased visibility of the sport on...

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

Oh no worries. Exciting times for boxing indeed. I hope that the PBC (NBC, CBS, Spike, ESPN, etc.) is successful in attracting new viewers, and perhaps eventually new talent, to the sport. Boxing is...

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

It's possible, but don't get your hopes up. This is the first fight since De La Hoya-Mayweather that Floyd will be without the services of Golden Boy Promotions. GBP has the relationship with Fathom...

Re: The Official Boxing Thread

Also known as a boxing lesson, hit and don't get hit. Thats what I expect from Floyd en route to a unanimous decision, as it's the smartest strategy for him. I don't count Manny out though. He can...

Re: Empire (S1E07) -- "Our Dancing Days" -- 2/18/15

As inane as they come, but I do think it is getting better with each episode. I just check my brain at the door, and understand that reality is not relevant to the show.

My main takeaway from the...

Re: Girls (HBO) - Season 4 Thread - premieres 1/11/15

I think it's about time that Adam Driver moved on, and I think that's where we're headed. As great as he has been on here, he's coming into his own right now as an actor. He's starring in Episode VII...

Zosia Mamet is a hottie to me. Her body is A1. She's by far my favorite character on this show.

Re: 2014 Television Golden Globe Nominees Announced

Yeah, I need to check out Fargo. I was skeptical to the point of not watching it (as a huge fan of the film), but I've heard too many great things about it.

Re: 2014 Television Golden Globe Nominees Announced

I too thought True Detective was a lock. The Missing was every bit as good, but I knew it didn't stand a chance.

Re: The Missing (Starz) Season 1 Thread - Saturdays beginning 11/15

Are people really not watching this? It is wonderful. James Nesbitt's work on this show is every bit as good as Matthew McConaughey's on True Detective, and I considered that tops for the year. I'm...
