Re: MLB 2022 season, better late than never

Many on Twitter have been pounding on Simmons ever since the Celtics folded like a cheap suit in the recent NBA Finals, and well, given his parochial fandom for the Red Sox and Celtics, too bad. :p

Re: MLB 2022 season, better late than never

I generally described Vin Scully as the reference standard for excellence in sports broadcasting. Rest in peace, and thank you.

Re: Former Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe assassinated, July 8, 2022

Unfortunately, people in Japan are reminded of the famous death of Leftist politician Inejiro Asanuma (an assassination that was shown also on live TV in Japan) back in 1960.

re: Former Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe assassinated, July 8, 2022

What's really scary was that the assassination weapon was essentially a home made gun. And it probably used black powder taken from a firework, too. The fact it literally came "out of the blue" (in...

Re: 2022 NBA Finals thread -- Boston Celtics vs Golden State Warriors

I think Jayson Tatum wilting down the stretch and Robert Williams III being hobbled by injuries were two major reasons why the Celtics lost.

Re: 2022 NBA Finals thread -- Boston Celtics vs Golden State Warriors

I actually disagree on this. The Celtics have this habit of going into long lulls at times and should have quickly dispatched the Heat in the Conference Finals in only five games. Hence my suggestion...

Re: 2022 NBA Finals thread -- Boston Celtics vs Golden State Warriors

Remember, the core of the Celtics (with the exception of Al Horford) are pretty young and in their physical prime. That's why they could literally overpower the Warriors, and head coach Ime Udoka has...

Re: 2022 NBA Finals thread -- Boston Celtics vs Golden State Warriors

The Celtics could win the series IF they can literally overpower the Warriors. That's about the only chance they got--in short, Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, Marcus Smart and Jayson Tatum have to play...

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs Thread

I think for the Celtics to win, Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, Marcus Smart and Jayson Tatum have to play WAY above their current level. And stop being a "Jekyll and Hyde" team, too.

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs Thread

Whatever it was, last night's Mavericks at Suns debacle is one of the biggest shockers I've seen in NBA history. The only thing bigger I could think of was the 2011 NBA Finals.

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs Thread

Look, between the beat-up Joel Embiid and James Harden essentially vanishing this round, no wonder the Sixers lost. You KNOW that Philadelphia sports talk radio is going to be arguing about this for...

I wonder will the Supreme Court "punt" on this because of the leak?

Re: The Official 2021-22 NBA Season Thread -- 82 games and full capacity

The Lakers are officially DONE. I wouldn't be surprised that LeBron James may consider sitting out the rest of the regular season.

Re: Official 2022 NCAA March Madness Thread

In the end, Kansas won because while North Carolina was essentially running on adrenaline the first half, they looked "gassed" by late in the second half. It's almost a miracle the Tarheels made it...

Re: 2020 NFL Regular Season Thread -- Week 12

I have this feeling right now that there is real pressure on the NFL league offices to force the Ravens to forfeit the game against the Steelers and move the Ravens' upcoming Thursday night game to...

Re: The all-inclusive 2020-21 football/futbal/fußball/voetbal/calcio/soccer

Diego Maradona was one of the greatest soccer players we've ever seen. Pity his life was controversial at times.

I have an iPhone X (256 GB Space Gray). I will likely upgrade to an iPhone 12 (256 GB Blue) with Spigen's new Neo Hybrid Crystal case.

re: COVID-19 POLITICAL Thread

The people that should really worry about SARS-CoV-2 are anyone over 70 years old or anyone who is suffering from a pulmonary-related disease. It appears that the variant of the virus spreading...

Re: Can we please get rid of this already (aka don't forget to "spring ahead" this weekend)

While I almost agree, the only thing is that most of the clocks around my house automatically change anyway (iPhone, iPad, clock in kitchen that "listens" to WWWE, desktop computer clock, TiVo DVR,...

Re: 2019 NFL Regular Season Thread -- Week 2

Wow, this week may have been a gigantic killjoy to the entire season. The loss of Drew Brees for at least 7-8 games and the season-ending loss of Ben Roethlisberger could kibosh a lot of interest in...

Re: 2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

I am not so sure. Kaepernick's skills were already in decline by 2005 and no NFL: team wants to deal with the massive public-relations blowback of signing him.

Re: 2019 NBA Playoffs Thread

This Raptors team reminds of of the 2003-2004 Detroit Pistons, except with more experienced players and more length. That's how they were able to overcome the "Death" lineup of the Warriors.

Re: 2019 NBA Playoffs Thread

I'll say this though: the Bucks are going to give the Warriors problems because of the Bucks' size of the players--and they aren't plodding, either.

Re: 2019 MLB March-April Thread

The Dodgers look awesome now, but I do worry about the quality of pitching as the summer comes to an end. Twice they lost World Series because their pitching faltered at the worst time possible.
