Re: DVD Rot ?

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to post some of my recent discoveries. I have started ripping some of my classic DVD movies to a Plex server for easier viewing and have discovered some...

re: Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterions! (11/1/16 - 11/28/16)

Was able to combine the discount with a 20% coupon the cashier had to get the Zatoichi set for $71.99. Also grabbed The Kid. That was pretty much my budget for this sale but still want Cat People and...

Re: Last BD (or, unrealistically, HD DVD) you watched?

http://images3.static-bluray.com/movies/covers/133338_large.jpgIt Came From Outer Space was amazing in 3D. Well worth the very long wait.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

It seems that Hulu and Netflix are the only two I can stick with. I also have Amazon Prime, but that is more for the music streaming and free shipping.

Did Warner Archive for a year, but the...

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

There is an occasional must watch like Longmire or Daredevil, but I don't watch most of their original series and find myself watching Hulu more and Netflix less. I will probably drop down to the...

Re: Warner Archive Instant coming to Roku

October had a surprising number of movies added. 4 or 5 times more than previous months. There may be hope for this service yet. Also some movies I actually wanted to watch and most in HD. The...

Re: Amazon Fire TV Stick

I picked one up. Nothing can replace the Roku 3, but this will work great for a bedroom device. No Vudu, HBOgo and Warner Archive is a bummer but hopefully they get added.

Re: Warner Archive sales

BDs were there but the sale wasn't working. They fixed the sale, but pulled the BDs and Show Boat so I will pass. Nothing else I really want to pay $10 a disc for.

Re: How much do you spend on streaming services?

WWE $9.99
Netflix $7.99
Warner Archive $6.37 (bought a year with 10% off comicon coupon)

I had two months of Hulu Plus free with my Roku and will probably continue it for a bit with the new TV...

Re: Warner Archive Instant coming to Roku

With the extra 10% off comiccon code the value for the year pass was a bit better, but the selection still has the same issues as the last time I tried the service. I'm finding enough to watch to be...

Re: The Official WWE Network Thread

I've enjoyed my first six months so they definitely have earned a renewal from me. I've watched the network much more than I thought I would. My only wish is for the Roku channel to get an upgrade to...

Re: Last movie/TV show you streamed?

Love this movie as well.

I watched all 4 of the Rutherford Ms Marple movies on Warner Archive Instant this weekend. Very nice HD quality so hopefully these get a blu-ray release at some point on...

Re: The Roku Thread

Streaming has pretty much taken over my movie and TV watching so I picked up the Roku 3 and I'm very impressed. Netflix and Vudu bitstream DD+ and HBO Go regular DD. 1080p is excellent and fast on...

Re: 2013-14 NBA Playoffs Thread

As happy as I was to see the Spurs win this all hope of anyone beating the Heat ended as soon as Parker went to the locker room. The Heat would be tough for anyone to beat healthy, but Parker will...

Re: Criterion flash sale

No envelope but they shipped my order really fast and I used free shipping. Picked up the most recent two Chaplin's and Fantastic Mr Fox.

Re: HD DVD, or: How do I learn to let go?

I still have a large number of HD-DVDs as well and even a few laserdiscs. They are worth having around to me. What is shocking to me isn't that HD-DVD has no resale value. It's the fact my regular...

Re: Next Gen: Are you in or out?

Picked up the Wii-U already though its mostly a virtual console machine for me. The new Xbox isn't appealing at all. PS4 is a possibility in the future, but I'm sure the launch price will keep me...

Re: The Roku Thread

What they had available to stream wasn't much compared to Netflix, but worth doing the free trial for the disc rentals.

re: Youtube paid subscription service [update: will change to free / ad-based]

I tried a 14 day free trial of TNA Wrestling and the biggest problem with the Youtube paid service is getting it to your TV. No Roku app. Tried the Youtube app on my PS3 and Sony BD player. BD player...

Re: The Roku Thread

Thanks for this info. I had no idea about this, but set it up on my Nexus 7 and I can watch YouTube and even Burning Love on Yahoo on my Roku. Very handy.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

Could not agree more. This is the downside of them focusing on original content. I can live with losing some of that content I will never watch, but if I'm losing it to fund garbage like Hemlock...

re: Youtube paid subscription service [update: will change to free / ad-based]

For me the problem is time. Some of this content is interesting, but if I'm paying for it I have to be using it. Netflix, OTA channels and my Blu-rays take up the majority of my time. That was the...

Re: Hard Games Or Poor Level Design?

I stopped playing this one for this reason. I don't have much time to play games anymore and I refuse to spend an hour on something just to have it wasted when I die and no progress is saved. I also...
