Re: DVD Talk review of 'Heroes: Season 3' (Blu-ray)

Holy *(\*, Adam, amazing review! :) Better than the show, but of course, that's not saying much. ;)

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Torchwood: Children of Earth' (Blu-ray)

"He" has a PS3 connected via HDMI to an (admittedly older) Onkyo passing through to a 40" Sylvania 1080p tv. :) I have noticed more and more there actually is a difference between 1080i and 1080p. ...

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection' (Blu-ray)

In the funny but true department, today's Oregonian had a mini-review of the set accompanied by a still of the cast of Star Trek: Nemesis. Umm......what's wrong with that picture (literally)? :)

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection' (Blu-ray)

Thanks. I have gotten a couple of heated private emails from fans who are really upset about the image quality and the lack of Director's/Extended versions, so, as I said in the review, it's really...

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Lost in Austen'

P.S. Personally I'd prefer you to remove what song she sings so as not to be posting a spoiler that's a great joke for those who haven't seen the miniseries yet.

Re: DVD Talk review of 'The Robe' (Blu-ray)

One other very minor comment--stereo LPs first came out in 1958, not 1957. There were a very few stereo reel to reels available at the end of 1957.

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Never Say Never Again'

P.S. For the guy on YouTube who doesn't know who Lani is/was, and for any readers, she provided Sergio Mendes with a slew of chart hits, notably Mas Que Nada and Fool on the Hill (The Look of Love...

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Never Say Never Again'

Nope, not parody, and as Lani and Herb show in that great YouTube clip, they have a sense of humor about it. First of all, I would never term the song disco in any sense. Perhaps you had to have...

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Johnny Got His Gun'

Thanks, Ron. It may not be the most "polished" film you've ever seen, but it packs an emotional wallop that those megaplex big budget corporate affairs can't even come close to.

Re: Which version of "Touch of Evil" is the best?

Though I saw the original 1958 version first (in a film class back in my misspent youth), I actually preferred the preview version to the restored version--it was like the best of both other versions.

Re: What is the best Charlie Chan set out there?

There will never be a "complete" set as several early Chans are lost. That's why they have "recreations" as extras on several of the Fox sets, with stills from the film. There's also a pretty good...

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Goodbye, Mr. Chips'

I saw THE OMEGA MAN at a funky little USO theater in Germany where my sister was the Service Club manager. I don't know what was scarier--the film or the place I was seeing it.

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Goodbye, Mr. Chips'

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Goodbye, Mr. Chips'

No, because my review is of the film, not the long history of its development. But it really is an interesting history and I for one love the Previn score. Andre spent a lot of money recording a...

Re: DVD Talk review of 'Goodbye, Mr. Chips'

Hi, Paul, yes, I'm aware of Chips' backstory. In fact, I believe I'm one of the few people with the complete Previn (demo) score on CD. I'm surprised you didn't mention that the songwriting chores...
