Re: Boardwalk Empire -- "Two Imposters" -- 11/25/12

Homeland doesn't rate at all in my eyes. Poorly scripted show and ridiculous plot lines. Boardwalk Empire is top 5 of all time. Right there with the Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad and Deadwood.

Re: Album by Album Thread featuring: The Beatles!

Thank God they didn't continue the direction of their first couple albums and started doing drugs and going on retreats. The Beatles really started to hit their stride with Revolver and Rubber...

Re: tell me about the shield

I can gauge someones intelligence just by hearing whether they prefer "The Wire" or "The Shield".

I stand by my statement that the acting(other than Chiklis and Pounder) is extremely poor. Great...

Re: Your Favorite HBO Series?

I chose The Wire but Deadwood is a close second. Deadwood is Shakespear with profanity.

Its amazing to realize that between The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Rome, The Wire and Deadwood....you...

Re: tell me about the shield

The Shield isnt even in the same universe as The Wire. The Wire is the greatest drama in television history but the Shield is good but not great. The problem I had with the Shield was that the...

Re: 2009 Year in Film | 82nd Oscars Discussion Thread -- 03.07.2010

I hate to be a conspiracy theorist but all of these problems that the Hurt Locker is receiving lately from it's producer and now a lawsuit, seems to me that Hollywood execs are trying to slyly...

Re: Favorite Quentin Tarantino Film?

Most guys who try to say that Pulp Fiction wasn't Tarantino's best picture are just being contrarians. It's the same type of guys or gals who say, "such and such band is great but their first album...

Re: Favorite Quentin Tarantino Film?

Happy to see Jackie Brown get so much love but everyone knows that Pulp Fiction is his masterpiece. If Pulp Fiction was released this year, it would sweep the Oscars. While Dogs was...

Re: 2009 Year in Film | 82nd Oscars Discussion Thread -- 03.07.2010

I was thinking the same thing. How can a movie win best picture without even a nomination for adapted or original screenplay. Are the words not important?

Re: Favorite decade for comedy

Because of National Lampoon, the 80's wins easily. The only film that may be in the late 70's might be "Animal House" Between National Lampoon and John Hughes, the 80's ruled for oddball...

Re: Avatar (Cameron, 2009) The Reviews Thread

In a lot of sci fi classics, the critics and moviegoers didn't really get the film when it first came out maybe because the movie wasn't marketed correctly or because the movie was ahead of it's...

Re: Mel Gibson to make Viking epic

Since your average male actor these days is about 5'6", it will be tough to find actors able to fulfill the role. Plenty of candidates for Hobbits though.

Re: Avatar (Cameron, 2009) The Reviews Thread

Since when do we give an award to a movie because of it's message and special effects? The message wasn't anything original at all and neither was the storyline. Easily the weakest of all the...

Re: Avatar (Cameron, 2009) The Reviews Thread

Ditto

What you Avatar fans seem to fail to understand is that many of us are not bashing Avatar simply to bash Cameron or movies of this genre. Technology can be used in a way that enhances a...

Re: Avatar (Cameron, 2009) The Reviews Thread

True, there are general themes in all science fiction epic films but this is so blatantly obvious that it screams ripoff. The problem is that the short attention span, video-game playing...

Re: 2009 Year in Film | 82nd Oscars Discussion Thread -- 03.07.2010

If Avatar gets nominated for best picture by the Academy, they should just get rid of the award altogether because the legitimacy will be gone.

Re: Avatar (Cameron, 2009) The Reviews Thread

I don't believe so. Kind of a folk tale. Nice and safe for Cameron to rip off because there isn't really anyone to sue him.

Re: Avatar (Cameron, 2009) The Reviews Thread

It's amazing that some of you guys were tricked into liking Avatar as a movie. It wasn't a movie. It was one long video game. Beautiful graphics, 3D technology, etc but the story was so basic that my...
