Re: The 15th Annual Academy Award Movie Challenge (March 15 - April 25, 2021

Unfortunately, I am now preview screening for an international festival so I'm not sure how many other films I can squeeze in. The quota for the screening is 7 films a week, so that's already a...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Had a chance to see The Shining on the big screen last night and I've got to say, it was awesome! I've never had the chance to see it in a theater before, but I'll take every chance I get in the...

Re: Comments, Suggestions & Feedback for the 2021 Horror Challenge

Agreed, and there's plenty to chose from in each, even when separated.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I just watched a great film on Kanopy! A French film called The Living Dead Girl (1982). I highly recommend it. It was just random choice, found while browsing their catalog. The description sounded...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I haven't been able to stop either! So far in November I've already watched:

A Creepshow Animated Special
Deep Blue Sea 3
The Vvitch
Zombie
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
Society...

Re: "Dagon" Reviews/Discussion - 2020 Horror Challenge

After watching Re-Animator in the morning and really enjoying it, I thought, "what the hell," I'll give Dagon a chance too. It may not have been as good as Re-Animator, but it was still pretty good....

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

The Tenant is good! I've been thinking of watching it again too.

I watched one of my guilty pleasures yesterday, House of Wax (2005). For some reason I like this film. I hope it's not just because...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Add me to the list as well. You've got to love Cronenberg for making The Fly so wonderfully gooey! Love Cat People and the Bowie song as well!

Don't discount Uncle Peckerhead. It's actually...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Put me down as another big fan! Hopefully some of you got to see the director's cut, as I did, in theatres shortly after its initial release. It was not released on disc or digitally to this date and...

Re: "Eaten Alive" Reviews/Discussion - 2020 Horror Challenge

This was a first viewing for me and although I enjoyed a lot of it, such as the aforementioned kid under the porch and swamp setting, what drove me crazy was the sound and score. I know it was likely...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I love dry humor, and I LOVE some of Jarmusch's other films, like Only Lovers Left Alive, but I thought The Dead Don't Die was excruciating. I just couldn't stand it at all. Weird because I also...

Re: "Frenzy" Reviews/Discussion - 2020 Horror Challenge

I'm glad you all liked it despite the real lack of horror elements. Despite being a huge Hitch fan and owning all his films in some format or another, this was a first time view for me too. Glad I...

Sorry for my stupidity, but can someone explain today's theme? The link goes to a list of "Horror Movies Featuring Other Horror Movies".

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I also love the original, think the 2006 remake is borderline okay but found the 2019 version absolutely terrible. So you're not missing much if you don't see it at all.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Totally agree with your comment on Frozen. I love this theme as well and was able to squeeze 3 in despite it being my wife's day off. Also watched Let the Right One In (always great) and the 2006...

Re: "Frozen" Reviews/Discussion - 2020 Horror Challenge

I enjoyed this one, and really found the tension to be well paced. I'm a sucker for snowy films though. It's a 4/5 for me. I saw it once before when it first was released on Blu-ray and found it...

Re: DVD Talk Criterion Challenge Spine #12 Discussion Thread

Well I didn't get to all the titles I wanted to watch (as typically happens every year) I enjoyed a lot of what I DID get to and enjoyed this challenge as always. Thanks for keeping it going Travis!
