Re: "Official" DVDTalk Challenges Compendium

I prefer it as an overlap as well, always running from noms to awards regardless of dates. There will always be overlaps with the "regular scheduled" challenges.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Really pleasantly surprised by The Unfamiliar (2020) from the UK. I'm curious what others thought as there were definitely a few hokey spots but it's been a while since a film got to me like that. I...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Jeez, I now have to add I Still Know What You Did Last Summer to my choice for worst film! If it wasn't for the almost endless rain on Jennifer Love Hewitt it would have NOTHING going for it!

I...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Favourite horror film: Does Jaws count? How about my extreme guilty pleasure Tremors? ... Alien
Worst horror film you've seen: Could have been Slumber Party Massacre 2 before I rewatched it this...

Re: "Triangle" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

I really liked this one. I also love a good time loop movie that's well executed and I think this one fits that bill. As for the mind reset, I suggest it happens when she goes to sleep on the boat....

Re: "The Ninth Gate" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

I haven't seen this before, but had the same experience last night. Was tired and didn't care for it. After reading so many positive comments above, I rewatched it this morning and it was much...

Re: "Planet Terror" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

^^^

Exactly! There's definitely flaws, but I like a lot of it. So many interesting characters helped me like it. And Rose, com' on!, she's so charismatic in this. Yes, the gimmicky "missing reel"...

Re: "Curse of the Demon" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

First of all, I have to say that the copy of this film on Fandor is emaculate! Bravo, for such an obscure title. I agree that the demon effects are great but other than some smoke, you only see it in...

Re: "Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

Oddly, I watched this film as my last for 2020's challenge but did not remember even a second of it. How do you forget an entire movie in a year? I don't know, but I liked it enough that I think I...

Re: "Carrie" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

Damn! This film is good! It just doesn't age (if you ignore hair and clothes LOL)! Unfortunately you can only see the end for the first time once.

Re: "Cutting Class" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

Thanks for the correction. And totally agree about the "reveal". It was so obvious you doubt yourself for guessing that.

BTW, you don't have to worry about spoilers in these chats. They're for...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Did a rewatch of Jennifer's Body for the school theme last night. I liked it better than the first time I saw it. Maybe it was the 86" TV

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Save yourselves! I did a search in PlexTV for "School" and ended up watching Ghoul School (1990). OMG, it sucked so bad!

Re: "Cutting Class" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

I really didn't like the way all the adult males in the education system were sleezy creeps, perving on the young girls. Jeez, even Roddy McDowell's character. For me the film is poorly executed as...

I finally have a few minutes to address your questions, Travis...

What worked? What didn't?
I didn't run into anything worth mentioning.

What would you like us to tinker with next year?

Re: "The Severed Arm" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

I have to disagree with the majority here... I really liked this film. Maybe it was actually watching the crappy Plex version that made it so moody. LOL. The soundtrack was definitely "experimental"...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I can't believe how riveting The Severed Arm was! Even though I watched a wretched copy on Plex, I soon forgot about how bad the picture was (especially on my 86" TV) and was glued to the story! Very...

Re: "Road Games" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

I ended up just buying it on iTunes for 9.99. The archive.org version looked like crap. I loved the scenes with the guy pulling the boat!

At first I thought it was the Road Games from 2015 that we...

Re: First Annual Art-House Challenge Discussion Thread

Good thing the month is over as I'm at the 60 image limit and already had to remove some! Damn artificial restraint! Had a great month though and got caught up on a lot of my new Criterions!...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

It was pretty humorous to see the reveal, I laughed out loud. I'm not sure how it would play if you knew it was coming.

That's a great list! I see a MYOC theme for May staring us right in the...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Re: First Annual Art-House Challenge Discussion Thread

Well that's an interesting clarification... IS it Indy/Arthouse or just Arthouse? This thread is entitled "First Annual Art-House Challenge". Travis, can we get a ruling? If so, I'll definitely count...
