Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Adding more to my thoughts...I purposely stayed away from all reviews and spoilers. So my expectations were not influenced by any of the rumors and what not...

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

For the second time, I did a 22 hour (18 hours last time) Star Wars marathon. This time I had to drive 8 hours, in a horrible blizzard to do the marathon. I could not have been more primed to like...

Re: Game of Thrones (S7E06) -- "Beyond the Wall" -- 8/20/17 -- 75 min episode

Agreed. I think that's why so many people are frustrated. This could have been one of my favorite episodes with a little more intelligent writing. Show one shot of Bran doign his roll eyes in the...

Re: Game of Thrones (S7E06) -- "Beyond the Wall" -- 8/20/17 -- 75 min episode

Let me preface my rant with the fact that I still think this show is my all time favorite television show. Even this episode was still better than the vast majority of shows. So take this rant in...

Re: Game of Thrones (S7E05) -- "Eastwatch" -- 8/13/17

I'm not liking the plan to have a cease fire with Cersei. Tyrion knows her way too well to think that would work. I hope there is more to their plan, otherwise this seems like a big misstep story...

Re: multi-quote limit?

Wow...well I think the mods probably have all they need from this thread now (as if they needed it). I do not envy them. At least, it seems, I have not been missing much but more of the same.

Re: multi-quote limit?

I barely check in more than once or twice every couple of months now. It wasn't exactly a conscious choice, but more of a consequence of the forum becoming unreadable over time thanks to the efforts...

Re: Brand-spanking New Atheist- & Christian-bashing thread

Han,

It is not at all uncommon for an emerging mental illness, like OCD, to become entangled with religion and existential questions. There are certain things like finances, religion, etc that are...

Re: Brand-spanking New Atheist- & Christian-bashing thread

I'm sorry you're going through this Han. For what it's worth, ERP (and similar techniques) can work quite well for the type of thing you're going through (I have used them many times with success). I...

Re: Trumpocalypse Now: The Transition

There is a difference between saying the hacks helped him win and the hacks are the reason he won. No one here is saying the latter from what I can tell. The former is obvious. Who knows how much,...

Re: What makes some fall for fake news and others not? (AKA The Generalization Thread

Getting back on topic, (and getting away from the shocking lack of empathy)...maybe this has a bit to do with why so many Americans fall for false news? Somewhere Putin is smiling...(with his shirt...

Re: What makes some fall for fake news and others not? (AKA The Generalization Thread

Yeah, it can be confusing. We're always getting calls thinking we do academic advising.

In theory, and in actuality at the center I run, it is exactly like going to see a therapist anywhere else....

Re: What makes some fall for fake news and others not? (AKA The Generalization Thread

You not only misinterpreted what I said, you made something up whole cloth again. once again you're thinking in black-and-white. I never said their suicidality was the sole cause of their distress....

Re: What makes some fall for fake news and others not? (AKA The Generalization Thread

I have had 5 clients hospitalized for suicidal behavior since the election. Two are trans and were teetering on the edge before the election. The election pushed them over the edge. That is why...
