Re: Tip for visiting Disney World?

My family and I went over Christmas break. Went to HS on the 27th. We got boarding group 59 and didn’t end up getting called until 1:30ish. We luckily only had to wait about 30 minutes to get on the...

Re: The Home Owner Thread

A core aerator is the best way to go. It pulls up plugs of turf which gets more oxygen and moisture to the lawn. It doesn’t hurt to seed after you do it either. It’s not a cure all, but doing it once...

Re: The Home Owner Thread

What kind of aerator? Core, needle, or slice? If there’s nothing drastically wrong with your lawn then I wouldn’t bother. The big reason to do it is if you have really, really compacted soil.

Re: The Home Owner Thread

One of my carpenter buddies seals the ends of some lumber that he isn’t going to use right away. He explained that cut ends of planks and boards are like sponges for moisture and can wreak all sorts...

Re: The Home Owner Thread

That really sucks. I had that happen when we were building a new shed. Depending on when you’re starting you might want to seal the ends.

Re: The Home Owner Thread

We finally finished our basement back in November. It took about 2 months of weekends between myself and a couple buddies. The process isn’t as slow as you would think. The biggest recommendation I...

Re: What is considered an "old timer" 'round here?

I remember those days. I was at a buddy’s house last week and we started reminiscing about buy.com and dvdexpress.com after looking at his collection. He still has one of the dvdexpress branded edge...

Re: The Fast Food Junkie Thread

I had these on Sunday, and was pleasantly surprised. The sweet and spicey sauce they were covered in was really good.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Turn off the mod and bold mode. Who is asking for blind acceptance here? There's a pattern on many forums of the people who dislike this movie that give cogent arguments as to why they disliked the...

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (R. Johnson, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

You're not allowed to dislike anything about this movie. NOTHING!

In all seriousness, I agree with the post. Myself and people that saw TLJ disliked more than we liked. It left a bit of a sour...

Re: The Home Owner Thread

As mndtrp said you can get a metal cutter for your mitre saw. I've also seen videos of guys that are really quick with the aviation snips.

Re: The Home Owner Thread

Looking at the YouTube videos I've seen people use regular dry wall screws and self-tappers when they are hanging their walls. Both seem to go in with ease. A friend said he used regular dry wall...

Re: The Home Owner Thread

As we're on the topic of basements (fixed my previous leaking issue). I am going to be finishing part of ours and have been going through the whole process of pricing things out. I'll be doing the...

Likewise. My buddy programmed Snake and Tic-Tac-Toe into my TI-82 (still have it). It was a whole new world.

Re: Have you ever had someone mistake kindness for flirting?

I like the quotes around numerous studies.

The leap was based on her age and not a terrible assumption with how many young adults act. The lack of social skills in recognizing cues of when to stop...

Re: Have you ever had someone mistake kindness for flirting?

Of course there are introverted people, but texting/instant messaging has lead to a decline in grammar and social/communication skills in today's youth. There have been numerous studies on it.

Re: Have you ever had someone mistake kindness for flirting?

Damn old people music. I'm 37 and got some of that the other day from my interns. I had The National playing in my office. One of them goes "wasn't their first album like 20 years ago?" And...

Re: The Official "Great Beer" thread. Part 2; Same great taste but this time more hop

I've been enjoying Founders PC Pils and Lawson's Finest Super Session IPA #8 recently. I can say I really have never disliked anything from Founders.

Re: Could you live without electricity and technology?

As others have said, I could but I really don't want to.

After Hurricane Sandy in the northeast we saw a tiny taste of what it would be like when people lost power from weeks to months. The gas...

Re: Have you ever had someone mistake kindness for flirting?

Well then you're part of the problem!

Kidding.

The art of conversation is almost extinct. I do the interviewing for our company and we hire a lot of seasonal staff and interns. Interview...

Re: Have you ever had someone mistake kindness for flirting?

You would be surprised how common that is now. Many of them lack the social skills to actually carry on a conversation with another human being. It is pretty sad.

Re: Should I go to a Singles Mixer?

Then no worries. Just have fun and don't go in thinking you're going to find "the one."
