Re: J-Horror on blu-ray

I would have been interested but I just bought the DVD recently. I am now merely annoyed.

This is one of the reasons why I haven't bought Dark Water etc. on DVD. I saw them when they were released...

Re: Lord of the Rings Extended Edition out in 2011

To answer my own question. It has just been anounced that this will be released in the UK the same day as in the US. No price as yet.

J-Horror on blu-ray

I am quite surprised by the lack of classic Japanese horror on blu-ray. I was expecting to see "The Ring" and "Dark Water" especially.

Anyone know why this should be or am I not looking in the...

Re: Lord of the Rings Extended Edition out in 2011

There is still no mention of a UK release of this set.

I would swallow paying the exorbitant custom's fees for this but not if it was to be released in the UK anyway.

Anyone heard anything?

Re: Guillermo del Toro Trilogy Blu-rays?

I have the UK set. I assume the US one is the same. I had Pan's Labyrinth but on HD-DVD so it was worth getting the set. The pop-up display is cool but I wouldn't have bought it just for that.

I...

Re: Forbidden Planet Blu-Ray -- transfer recycled from HD-DVD?

No, I've had a chance to compare them again. Not very scientific 'cos I put the DVD in my blu-ray player and switched between the HD-DVD.

Its not that the HD-DVD is poor it is just not visibly...

Forbidden Planet is my favourite SF film of all time. I'm sitting here with my FP mouse mat!

It is interesting that some have said that the HD-DVD transfer was excellent. I have this and the...

That's a shame. I was rather hoping the 2009 on amazon.co.uk was a misprint. It seemed to be a long time in advance to be advertising it.

Thanks anyway for the info.

You guys in the US are lucky. The other way round, if we in the UK order from the US, we get hammered for duty as soon as the customs threshold is exceeded. That is only about 23.00 ($45.00 aprox)....

Yeah, my order of preference when buying a movie is: HD DVD, Blu-ray then SD.

The HD DVD choice is obviously becoming limited.

There are more than a few BDs region encoded. Rather too many for my liking. Anyway, play.com doesn't say if this is Region 'B' (Europe) only. However, there is going to be a Region 'A' (USA/Japan)...

Tale of Two Sisters on Blu

Just discovered while browsing play.com's site: Tale of Two Sisters is being released on Blu Ray, 23rd June in the UK.

One of my favourite ever ghost/horror films. Can't wait.

Of-course I'm assuming this won't be released in the UK any time soon, since the film has only gone on general release here.

The Orphanage Blu Ray ?

Wasn't sure whether to post this to here or the HD forum but I'll ask anyway.

Does anyone know whether the up-coming release of The Orphanage on Blu Ray will be region free or 'A' only?
