Re: eBay and Feedback

I've had very few mishaps on Ebay. For the most part, sellers are great and I get items as described.

But there was one very rare record I bought (so rare it was the first copy I saw online and...

Re: Moving to Iceland

Well, that's a little mean, but my brief explanation of why he stays in his job could have been better, so I take ownership of that.

He's just not a corporate world kind of a guy. Nothing wrong...

Re: Moving to Iceland

One reason he sticks with the gas station, though now all kids are in school, is he cannot stand the idea of going back to work in an office or having a boss. He works alone. His interaction with the...

Re: Well, that's a wrap...this place is dead

I haven't posted in quite some time, but I am back looking at threads and replying to a few here and there.

Kind of getting tired of the crap on Facebook.

But I will admit: I was confused for...

Re: Moving to Iceland

Man, I don't know which is crazier: Him fantasizing about this or that his girlfriend seems to be up for it. She takes his talk about it seriously and has been posting about moving to a foreign...

Re: Moving to Iceland

Excellent point. But I bet he'd be inclined to go during the summer when daylight is longer and wouldn't get a taste of the winter.

Re: Moving to Iceland

Yeah, he's been stuck in this overnight job of misery for quite some time mainly because they cannot afford daycare. He had to be the stay at home dad during the day for the kids when they were...

Re: Bat in a bucket, boy in a coma (Florida)

I don't have any sympathy for that family. Sorry for the kid's loss, but the parents should be fixed so they can never reproduce again and should bear the entire cost of his medical bills and funeral...

re: Bat in a bucket, boy in a coma (Florida) UPDATE: Boy Dead

Who brings a sick wild animal into the house? And who listens to their child when they refuse to go to the hospital?

Does anybody know anything more about who this father is?

I found one Henry...

Re: Moving to Iceland

He's pushing 50, like me. We are actually the same age.

And for a lot of reasons, it would be easier to plan when somebody is young and single.

He's not married, but he's been with his...

Re: Moving to Iceland

And that's what I am trying to tell my friend. I love the guy like a brother. That's one reason I decided to come here...maybe get a POV to present to him that I didn't think of. I'd hate to see him...

Moving to Iceland

From what I've read, you need a work permit to move to Iceland. And it's hard to get one if you're from a country like America. You need special skills that no other Icelander could fill, in general....

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

This.

Not to mention they are offering ALL the specials to Prime members only early. So that means SOLD OUT for everybody else on the truly good stuff.

I am half tempted to sign up for "Prime"...

Re: The Jim Gaffigan Show (TV Land) - Series Discussion Thread - premieres 7/15/15

Re: Car buying advice

I have to admit: There is a Toyota dealer near me that rents out their cars. I used to rent one when I used to have a 15-Year-Old Luxury Car. Pontiac Grand-Ams and Toyotas were my favorite cars of...

In the past 9 years I've put 84k miles on my car. Any new car I get will be less...unfortunately, my mom passed, so the annual trips out of state have come to an end, sad to say.

I see old...

Re: Car buying advice

I checked out Consumer Reports. Two out of ten cars recommended are Subarus. I was leaning towards a Crosstrek already. A couple Hondas, too...and they have a good dealer very close to me. All...

Car buying advice

The quick details:

I am not in a rush to buy a car. I have a 3-4 year plan in mind. That said, I have money for a sizable down payment now if a great deal comes along (ie...GREAT, not good.)

Re: Comic Book Rant - Hard to get rid of anything

I don't know about Bud Plant catalogs, but I've seen catalogs in general go for good money on Ebay. Old Sears and JC Penny's catalogs, especially.

These are the things nobody saves and when...

Re: Comic Book Rant - Hard to get rid of anything

Sometimes it's just the matter of finding the right collector who has been interested.

It's an old adage but true in this market: One man's trash is another man's treasure.

I've come across...

Re: The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (premieres Sept. 8, 2015)

Speaking for myself, I DVR nearly every late night show. Mainly for the live music (I save the songs as WAV files) but I only regularly watch Fallon and Kimmel. I rarely watched Letterman. I found...
