Re: Madness in the Method (2019 D: Jason Mewes) S: Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith

4-5 years? Stan Lee died in November. Smith's heart attack was 18 months ago. Lots of movies are in post for a year or more. (But this probably did sit on the shelf for a little while.)

Re: RIP Rip Torn (1931-2019)

He had one of my favorite lines on Larry Sanders.

Lary and Artie are watching Hank's sex tape.
Larry: Is it me or is Hank really hung?
Artie: Well, the camera adds ten pounds.

Re: Sexual Harassment/Assault in Hollywood -- Discussion

Um, let's not do that. What you're describing is straight out of 1984.

We should always strive for the most accurate records possible. We can always update them with relevant information like:...

Re: Spider-Man: Far From Home (Watts, 2019) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

You'd think not existing for five years would take some kind of emotional toll, but I guess it just sucks our your personality and makes you a boring caricature.

Good to know.

Re: Spider-Man: Far From Home (Watts, 2019) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

This was a MAJOR disappointment. It felt like no one in this film was even trying. I think I enjoyed the two post credit scenes more than anything else. Except maybe the first illusion fight.

Sam...

Re: Flash Gordon - remake

Great news on Waititi's involvement. Buuuuut. . . . It doesn't sound like he's directing. Maybe he'll have a story credit and be an executive producer?

Animated could be good. Buuuuut. . . The...

Re: Ending the Electoral College

Is it possible the needs of the nation have changed in the last quarter milennium? Even if the founders set up the absolute best government in the world at the time, you'd have to be a fool to think...

Re: Ending the Electoral College

I've felt this way at least since 2000. But apart from my preference on any election, why shouldn't the standard for voting be "One man, One vote?"

If the EC is about overruling The People when...

Re: Chef (2014, Favreau) S: Favreau, Downey, Vergara, Leguizamo, Cannavale, Johansson

I didn't hate this, but what a big, fat dissapointment. How stupid could these characters possibly be? Dustin Hoffman is the most brain dead restaurant manager in history. "That critic didn't like...

Re: Best Depiction of a Fictional Sport in a Movie ?

If sports that are literally impossible are allowed, I think the answer is Quidditch. It's farily well fleshed out, the rules make sense, and we had eight movies with which to explore it.

Re: Why is Hannibal (2001) so reviled?

I've always thought of Hannibal as the best looking terrible movie ever made. I love Ridley Scott. I loved Thomas Harris' book. But there's something about Hannibal that's so empty and meaningless....

Re: Mass Shootings [Merged]

This is you admiting you don't give a shit about people being murdered. You just find it a "curious phenomenon."

Re: New! Improved! The 2020 Presidential Election Thread: It's Never Over! Edition

Russia interfered in the election through social media. 17 American intelligence agencies confirmed it. Do you agree with their assesments? Then why is it such a stretch to think they would hack into...

Re: Official Trump Presidency Thread, Part 3

He doesn't have to do anything. There are enough slimeballs working for him (or admiring him from afar) that will work to tip the scales in his favor.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (The Russo Brothers, 2019) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Regardless of when they were filmed, didn't Feige and Co. know exactly when the films wold be released? They have to be aware that the film release order builds an overall narrative for the audience.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (The Russo Brothers, 2019) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I liked it. But there's a luandry list of problems.

-Cassie Lang has aged 10+ years in 5 years. If she's going to suit up in Ant-Man 3, why didn't they cast someone older to start with?

Re: The Hateful Eight (2015, D: Tarantino)

I doubt very, very, very much that this was done without Taranrino's knowledge or consent.

Why would Netflix want to piss off a major filmmaker (or any filmmaker) so they can make it into...
