Re: Tenet (2020, D: Nolan) -- S: Washington, Pattinson, Debicki -- The Spoiler-filled Reviews Thread

Just saw it second time and it really helped to clear up a lot of confusion I had initially. The movie moves very quickly, not letting the audience breath much. I also had trouble with Branagh’s...

Re: Tenet (2020, D: Nolan) -- S: Washington, Pattinson, Debicki -- The Spoiler-filled Reviews Thread

I quite liked it. I echo with the comment of I’m not sure what I saw, but it was damn entertaining. I agree the dialogue was hard to make out at times, but I got the gist. I keep hearing it’s LOUD,...

Re: New Mutants (2020, D: Boone) -- S: Williams, Taylor-Joy, Braga -- The Spoiler filled reviews thread

It was okay. The cast is appealing, which helped, but they didn’t have much to do. Just very basic. A B- if I’m being generous.

Re: Unhinged (2020) -- S: Russell Crowe

I saw this today. Russell Crowe makes Michael Douglas in Falling Down look like Mr. Rogers. It was decent enough. I’d give it a B-.

Re: AMC Stubs A-List -- movie theatre subscription

I just might be able to see Tenet in IMAX. The independent theaters across the river in Cincinnati have been open for about a month and a half, so it’s possible AMC might open up those Ohio theaters...

Re: The New Mutants (2020, D: Josh Boone) S: Taylor-Joy, Williams, Heaton, Braga

I could have gone to theaters across the river in Ohio for the last month and a half, but nothing showing that I wanted to see. I really want to see this just to see it.

Re: Disney's Mulan (2020, D: Niki Caro) -- live action

What do you expect them to do with this pandemic, nothing but give away everything? Yeah right.

Re: Disney's Mulan (2020, D: Niki Caro) -- live action

Considering what’s going on with COVID, I’m not going to hate on Disney wanting to do this. Having said that, I doubt I’m going to do this unless it’s certain my theaters will be closed.

Re: The Old Guard (2020, D: Gina Prince-Bythewood) S: Theron, Ejiofor -- Netflix

By so many people, at least in this thread, you mean just me.

I'm glad so many here enjoyed it. I found it very by the numbers. I thought the most interesting side character that we’re not...

Re: The Old Guard (2020, D: Gina Prince-Bythewood) S: Theron, Ejiofor -- Netflix

Why should I have to do that? I gave specific, clear cut reasons. Troll much?

Re: The Old Guard (2020, D: Gina Prince-Bythewood) S: Theron, Ejiofor -- Netflix

Guess I got to be the one who found it utterly unremarkable. The set up was way more interesting than the actual movie. I just didn’t find the characters very engaging or well developed enough for me...

Re: This weekend at the local drive-in: Jaws/ET or Ferris Bueller/Clue!

The nearest drive-in to me is showing Superman 1978 and Batman 1989.

Re: COVID-19 Virus -- Movie related news

The indie chain near where I live is planning for a soft reopening next weekend, with all the precautions you’d expect. What movies they’re showing is unknown at this time.

Re: IYO: Have there been any movies since 1997 that you would consider a “classic”?

Lots of great movies I would consider classics already. I’ll add:

Drive

Sure it rips off genre tropes, but it’s a movie I keep coming back to almost ten years now, and that’s a rarity for me. I...

Re: Is Kevin Smith's career over?

Well his movies make good money and I wouldn’t exactly call his movies mainstream, or anything guaranteed to make bank. He seems to still connect with audiences.

Re: Is Kevin Smith's career over?

Not an uncommon thing for writer/directors to lose their relatability in their work, or their ability to make something inspired. Having real longevity in Hollywood is rare.

Re: Marvel's Blade (S: Mahershala Ali)

It does kind of crack me up that a two time Oscar winner might as well be a newcomer on this message board.

Re: Extraction (2020, D: Hargrave) -- S: Hemsworth, P: The Russo Brothers (Netflix)

I thought this was pretty well done. The action choreography and camera work were second to none. Hemsworth did well with this role, which I kind of expected.
