Re: Landlords on my case about my cleanliness!

I often get tired even when I'm not depressed. Some days I might want to watch an entire series of movies, but end up sleeping most of that time instead. I'm definitely more of a night person than...

Re: Question about color banding (I think?)

I notice it most in dark scenes- the shades of grey have a digitized look to them. It's a lot more common on streaming.

Re: Landlords on my case about my cleanliness!

They've been off my back lately, have been watching my email every day for something from them but nothing has ever appeared- my last correspondence was asking to please clarify what she meant by the...

Re: The kinda all streaming deals thread

Mine is playing in 4K and HDR right now. I think instead I'll watch my super-rare HD-DVD of it though.

Re: The Fast Food Junkie Thread

Haven't tried those yet, but thanks to a slow-moving drive-thru at McDonald's I learned who Travis Scott is. Still not sure why I should care. They should let me design a custom meal there.

Re: DVD Talk's awesome free music thread!

Is there any search you did to find all of those? I was trying to keep up with all the free albums there but gave up a while ago.

Re: Walmart's upcoming 98 dollar a year delivery service?

Too bad they already sold Vudu, having a selection of commercial-free movies with this might have made it worth it.

Re: The Fast Food Junkie Thread

I've always wondered why they require you to be in a car to use the drive-thru. I assume it's to keep anyone from being run over.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

I've got tapes way older than that which still look like they were recorded yesterday. Early Scotch blanks were crap though, several of them have sticky-shed syndrome. I did get a tape-baking...

Re: The Fast Food Junkie Thread

https://youtu.be/q8Ivdg0Go0o

It had to change the name because it turned out someone was already using that one. I get that a lot, it'll suck to have that gone. I have a Taco Bell just a few...

Re: Anybody want to translate some Hebrew for me?

Some, but not all of the movies in the Nightmare on Elm Street Blu-Ray set are subtitled in Hebrew- I got to see what "Welcome to prime time, bitch!" looks like in that language.

Re: Disney Movie Insiders (RIP DMR)

Got 25 points for my birthday month also. 11 years ago they let me have a free Blu-Ray for the cost of shipping, but had nothing the years after that.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

Don't forget all the BD-Live extras that are no longer online. Nothing can be trusted to "the cloud". You can get an external drive for your computer too if it doesn't have one built in.

Re: Is there any CC or subtitles on the Twilight Zone Set(1985)?

CCs are complicated with today's equipment. They only work with analog video connections at 480i. Newer Blu-Ray players don't have analog outputs, but they do have internal caption decoders which are...

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & Codes

I'm probably gonna cave and get Real Life since it's not on Blu-Ray and I've been needing to see it. Trying not to 'buy' any more digital movies without watching them immediately as I have a huge...

Re: The One and Only Kino Lorber and Olive Films Blu-Ray Thread

And two of those have references to laserdiscs in them. But what good are they- you can't record on 'em!

Re: $100 for VHS tapes back in the day?

That was big enough for some sort of "Privacy Act" to get passed, so that video stores couldn't give out that kind of info. Nowadays with the digital providers who knows what type of data they're...

Re: What was the last movie you saw in theaters before Covid?

That was an "open-matte" movie that wasn't framed properly at the theater- that's one mistake that can't be made with digital now, but digital still can't beat film done right.

Re: What was the last movie you saw in theaters before Covid?

Uncut Gems, scope letterboxed on a 1.85 screen with no masking, and house lights never going fully down. I have no desire to go back to a theater after that.
