Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Finishing up with 86 which, I think, is my highest total ever. Almost half were during the last week while I have been off from work. Had to take a couple of horror breaks as it started to be a bit...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Well I just hit my goal of 75. Itís always been unlikely I can hit 100 and, for awhile, I thought 75 unlikely this time. Taking the last week of the month off allows me to catch up att least. ...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Ok watched the Elvira special - two movies I'd seen, two I hadn't. Enjoyed watching the films, didn't enjoy Elvira anymore now than in the 80s.

I think I'm going to be interspersing some horror...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I haven't managed to sell mine yet. That plus Adamson was enough to make me think I either like to torture myself or Severin likes to torture me, but I still shelled out for the folk horror box. ...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Just getting started. I couldn't quite get into the 'arthouse' challenge like I hoped - too much going on to concentrate on it - so I'm not doing any specific crossovers.
Also, my tv area is...

Re: First Annual Art-House Challenge List Thread

I keep forgetting September was 'criterion month' - but I'll see if I can get a few in, probably watched some already to add here

A Cat In Paris [Criterion Channel]
Dune [Arrow]

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I'd say my favorite first-time viewing was Peter Jackson's Braindead (Dead Alive). I didn't much care for his first movie Bad Taste, but I thought BrainDead was much improved for my tastes. Who Can...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

My final total is 115, first year to break 100 since I started. I think my previous high was 75. I didn't really try to do the checklist til the last few days of the challenge, finished a good...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I'm wrapping up Halloween by going through the Norman J Warren box from Indicator finally. Absolutely incredible package they put together, but is it going to make me the object of ridicule if I say...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Just picked up scream factory's The Vincent Price Collection III. I never realized Terry Gilliam worked on a horror movie before but it was obvious when Cry of the Banshee came on that the titles...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I remember sometime in my early teens, I think it was, back in the late 80s, watching what seemed to be a remake of the Cabinet of Dr Caligari from 1962. It was simply titled The Cabinet of Caligari...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I'm going to hit 100 this year which I've never managed in a challenge before so I'm kinda happy about that. I notice when I get to the last week or so, I start to get very overwhelmed by that much...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I didn't hate it - parts of it worked well for me. It's been a very long time sine I've read any of Barker's original source and I don't think I ever read all 6 volumes so it is a bit hard for me to...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

If I had a few shorts to watch, I would have bundled together to make 1 entry, but since Never Hike In the Snow was only 30 minutes and that's all I was watching, I just marked it as a wildcard since...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I got mine today from DeepDiscountDVD - been a long time since I've ordered from them and I was shocked at just how poorly packaged the box was. It was just shaking around in there, one of the discs...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I watched Never Hike Alone for this challenge, and Never Hike In the Snow just came out last night which is a prequel to the first film.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I'm torn about this. I understand the point that all these Italian genres films of the period could be viewed as dubbed in any language but I seem to enjoy the Italian voice acting the best on the...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Man, I've been slowly getting more and more eager for this to start the last few days. Better than some years where I'm too busy or too lethargic to get up any enthusiasm. I'm not too good at...

Note #2: I normally put a few thoughts next to each title. I'll try to spoiler...

re: Foundation (Apple TV +) -- S: Jared Harris -- Based on the books by Isaac Asimov -- Premieres 9/24/21

The first and second books - and I think the third book as well - are not really novels but collections of stories that were serialized in magazines first and then put together.

What Apple needs...

Re: Best Cowboy Bebop Character

Definitely Radical Edward. I saw this when it first came out on DVD and just loved everything about this character. I am skeptical Ed will be handled very well in any live action version though
