Re: Game of Thrones (S8E03) -- 82 minute episode -- “The Long Night” -- 4/28/19

"Winter is Coming" - is that something brought on by the return of the Night King, or is it just the normal seasons for the North? Is winter still coming?

Re: Is John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ the worst song of all time?

Travis did a pretty good job covering that song as well. Surprisingly brilliant!

Interesting thought - can the Night King raise the dead that are in the crypt? Or can he only bring back the recently deceased?

Re: Recommendations for Ear Plugs

Not cheap (~$200?), but I use Westone custom ear plugs. You get a mold taken at an audiologist's office, and then get the custom plugs in the mail. The have different filters you can swap out, like...

re: Luke Perry (90210, Riverdale) suffers "massive stroke" [Update: Dead at 52]

I never watched those teen shows, but I remember him from the movie "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", which is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. Hope he recovers.

Re: Bob Seger Discussion

I know this is a while ago, but I saw him in 2011 in Worcester MA and the show was fantastic. The band played great, his voice had held up pretty good, and he played a great setlist. I particularly...

Re: The 2019 Grammys

I really liked the performance by H.E.R. as well, but the song melody sounded really familiar to me, I almost thought it was a cover. Have to figure out where I've heard it before...

Super Blood Wolf Moon - "I thought that was the name of the band that just played on our show."

I actually laughed out loud at that one!

Re: I can't be the only Loverboy fan here

I liked them back in the day, and even saw them live a couple times. But when I hear it now, it doesn't really pass the test of time for me. "Turn Me Loose" still sounds okay, but I never need to...

Burning (2018, D: Chang-dong Lee) S: Ah-in Yoo, Steven Yeun, Jong-seo Jun

Kind of surprised there wasn't a thread about this already. Probably my favorite movie of 2018 (along with "Won't You Be My Neighbor"). Based on a short story from Haruki Murakami.
Currently 94% an...

Re: SNL (S44S05) -- 11/10/18 -- H: Liev Schrieber -- MG: Lil Wayne

One of the stronger episodes in quite a while. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the "Invest/Incest Twins" sketch, tt seems like a classic in the 'Schweddy Balls' category. And I also liked the...

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

I think you would have like them. Very soulful show, and I could listen to their harmonies all day long. Here's a clip someone else shot:

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Saw them last year down on the Cape, I went on a whim and was surprised at how good they were. (The Church opening up for them were also great.)

Caught the Lone Bellow at the Shalin Liu in...

Re: Jeff Lynne's ELO 2019 North American Summer tour announced

Saw them last week at the O2 arena (in part based on the recommendations here). It really was a spectacular show, and sounded amazing. Tickets were fairly inexpensive on the secondary market, as they...

Re: Leave No Trace (2018, D: Granik) S: Ben Foster, Thomasin McKenzie

Just watched this tonight, and thought it was beautiful. Interestingly, while watching it I thought that Tomasin Harcourt McKenzie's performance was the best I'd seen from a teenager since Jennifer...

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Christina Aguilera at the Wang Center in Boston last night. I'm not a huge fan, but I've always appreciate her vocal talent, and tickets were pretty cheap ($59 for 5th row in the pit). Glad I went,...

Re: What the hell was I thinking? (movies you thought you liked)

Avatar. When I first saw in IMAX 3-D, I was blown away by the immersive experience, and thought it was amazing. But on re-watching it at home (in 2D), it quickly became a mediocre sci-fi remake of...

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Pearl Jam at Fenway Park last Tuesday night. Phenomenal show on all accounts - the band was in top form, the sound was the best I'd heard in a stadium, and the video was almost cinematic. With all...

Everclear this past Friday night at Tupelo Music Hall (Londonderry NH). It was a really fun show - they basically played all the hits, along with some scattered album tracks. Seemed like most of the...

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

David Byrne in Boston on Tuesday night. As others have mentioned, the show is stunning both visually and aurally, definitely the best show of the year so far!
