Re: eBay and Feedback

Thanks for the reply. I guess it's an unavoidable cost of doing business and luckily it doesn't happen too often. It's frustrating because the hub button even had the word "PUSH" molded into it! I...

Re: eBay and Feedback

Can I get an opinion about the precedence for the following eBay scenario?

I sold a DVD in perfect shape and mailed it to the client. I received an "Return Request" from the client claiming the...

Re: Gone With the Wind DVD/Blu-ray Price Jump

Not to dwell on the topic as we're moving on but much of the race-related humor in Blazing Saddles was pointing-out the ignorance and stupidity of the white characters.

Re: Gone With the Wind DVD/Blu-ray Price Jump

...grand piano falls on your collection? Yes, natural disasters and accidents are all part of the risk of everyday life. Even if you should be so unlucky to lose your entire library, at least with...

Re: Movies you let sit on the shelf, unwatched, popped in and loved?

"Smooth Talk" with Laura Dern from 1985 was a movie that came with a lot-purchase of DVDs I bought several years ago. Never thought much of it at the time but it's a really good film.

Re: Will any major movies reflect a "COVID-19" world?

With modern technology they can just CGI hugging and kissing! After we're finished with COVID-19 hopefully there won't be a COVID-20 sequel in the works.

Gone With the Wind DVD/Blu-ray Price Jump

I understand HBO Max had been streaming the 1939 classic Gone With the Wind but pulled it a few days ago apparently due to scenes involving slavery in the South. This seems to have sparked a sudden...

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

This is probably true of the internet in general that much of the hard-earned knowledge and research people have put into their occupation or hobbies has been undermined by the flood of extensive...

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

You know there are many people that think and behave in this manner but it brings it to a disturbing light when they film and upload themselves to proudly display their lack of grace and intelligence...

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

There's always going to be crass re-sellers when there's a buck or two to be made. Given the majority of lame titles that pop-up at Dollar Tree, I can't really see them being sold for much of a...

Re: Jaws -- 45th Anniversary Edition -- 4K UHD/BD -- 6/2/20

The opinions on upgrading to 4K could probably be cut-and-pasted from most threads on the same topic during the transition from DVD to Blu-ray. There's probably no new insights beyond variations of...

Re: AMC might not survive

My experience with drive-ins is that they are fun for the experience so long as you don't really care too much about seeing the movie. The best experiences were with the family watching a kids movie...

Total Recall (1990) is 30-Years-Old Today!

Hard to believe but the Arnold Schwarzenegger film "Total Recall" opened up June 1st 1990. It's still one of the best sci-fi action films of all time.

A side thought I had; To me, his film still...

Re: Favorite movie scenes of all-time?

The drug deal/firecracker scene in "Boogie Nights". The tension, the soundtrack and the sense of doom had me squirming in my seat when I first saw this film.

Re: eBay and Feedback

This makes sense as to why it may be happening. The reason my handling time is stated as "1-10 days" might be the fact that I am Canadian but list my items through eBay.com (USA), not eBay.ca...

Re: How do you choose what to watch and when?

Lately I've been trying to watch titles I have owned for years but never got around to actually watching. Guilt-watching I suppose?

Sometimes the running time dictates what I watch. If I start a...

My handling time to set to "1-10 business days" and yet the "Same Day Shipping" in bright red text still pops-up on all my ads.

Re: eBay and Feedback

One thing I've noticed recently is that eBay will add the phrase "Same Day Shipping!" to all of my ads which, when I review my ad details, I can't find a way to remove this. What does "Same Day...

Re: Movie Theaters fight Against Studios over Early Video-on-Demand Release

In the bigger picture, if most theatres around the world go belly-up, be prepared to pay a whole-lot more for those digital files in order for the studios to re-coup the loses on those $200 million...

Re: Songs destroyed by TV or movie association

There was a Vietnam war TV show called "Tour of Duty" in the late-1980s that used The Rolling Stones "Paint it Black" as a title song. Given my age at the time this was my first introduction to that...

Re: Director Lynn Shelton dies at age 54

She had a great run of independent feature films in a short period of time; Humpday, Your Sister's Sister, Touchy Feely and Laggies. She will be missed. RIP

Re: Movie Theaters fight Against Studios over Early Video-on-Demand Release

Different movies/studios probably have different contracts but as I understand it, a theatre will take-in 50% of the box office after about week 4 or 5, if the the title still happens to draw an...

Re: Movie Theaters fight Against Studios over Early Video-on-Demand Release

I agree. It's a little like Wolfgang Puck serving marinated rack of lamb with honey-mint vinaigrette at the local all-you-can-devour local buffet restaurant. It's still great food but the perceived...

Re: Boogie Nights- questions and loose ends

My other thought was how could a 17-year-old kid get a job in a nightclub as a busboy / porter? Wasn't the drinking age in California still 21?

Maybe the rules were a little more relaxed back...
