Re: When will the Blu-ray disc era end?

I think my LG TV was from the last year it was still making 3D sets. It's also 4k, so I'm content for now. When that TV dies, it will probably force me to finish off my plans for a projector setup.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Are there any horror movie podcasts that people would recommend? I've tried a couple but didn't really care for them. There sure are a lot of really bad podcasts out there.

Re: Thread for BF Cult, Genre and/or Non-Region A Blu-Rays

I would just look at the blowout bin. All of the ones on sale are there along with other import editions: https://www.deepdiscount.com/blowout-bin/b237039?mod=AP&ft=Blu-ray

He posted in the DVDTalk Facebook group within the last week. My bet is he's deep in the Criterion challenge.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 18: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

The drive-in continues to bring it. Barbarian will be showing Friday along with Pearl. I wouldn't mind seeing Pearl again. I hope this continues in October. I'm pretty sure it's at least going to get...

Re: Thread for BF Cult, Genre and/or Non-Region A Blu-Rays

The $5.99 flat shipping rate works pretty well if you're going to order a few titles, but if you only want one or two, it sure does bite into the discount. Speaking of discounts, how come the best...

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 18: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

I thought the whole plot of Blair Witch is that it's Heather's brother trying to find her. So shouldn't Book of Shadows be the non-linear sequel? How are Scream and Twin Peaks non-linear sequels?...

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 18: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

Maybe I'm missing something, but aren't many of the ones on that list linear continuations? Or is it no longer considered linear if it has been a long time since the last movie?

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 18: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

I'm planning to hit up the drive-in again tonight. This week's lineup: Fall and Pearl. I'm a bit surprised that Fall only has a thriller tag and not horror, but it looks like it should have some good...

re: Josh Harris fired from Deadliest Catch

Why is it that the main link is broken and the two subsequent links have nothing to do with the main topic of the story?

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 18: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

I thought The Invitation was a third of a good movie. It started real slow but then got a lot better in the middle but lost me again by the end. I really liked Bodies Bodies Bodies, though. It had a...

Re: WALL-E to be released on Criterion Collection Nov. 22

Gotcha. Yeah, I know that one was at least prepped for 3d.

Criterion has already released a 3D Blu-ray before, so it wouldn't be a first. And there's still money in 3D titles from the...

Re: UHD release announcements

I think part of the excitement is that it opens up a lot of possibilities for the future.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 18: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

I usually avoid any horror in September, but I try to go to the drive-in whenever there are movies playing that I'm interested in. Tonight is The Invitation and Bodies Bodies Bodies. Couldn't pass...

Re: The official Vinegar Syndrome thread (was VSU)

I thought I read that Amadeus was getting a 4k restoration.

Re: WALL-E to be released on Criterion Collection Nov. 22

Not sure why Criterion would release it in 3D when it was never shown in 3D.

Re: WALL-E to be released on Criterion Collection Nov. 22

I know it's one of the more recent ones, but I can definitely see Soul getting a Criterion release. Its plot seems to match well with other Criterion titles.

Re: WALL-E to be released on Criterion Collection Nov. 22

I never purchased the 4k of this and was just recently thinking about how I should upgrade, so I'm in. Unfortunate that the short wasn't included. Criterion usually likes to include short films, so I...

Re: The Drew Barrymore Show --- Daytime Talk Show

And most importantly, the station gets to keep a much greater percentage of the ad money.

Re: Plex

Oh, that's very useful! I'll try changing the name when I get home. Yeah, I've seen Plex do some wonky matching before. That's why I always look while things are getting added to confirm it's correct...

Re: The official Vinegar Syndrome thread (was VSU)

You do realize the consumers that Vinegar Syndrome primarily seems to target, right? Older males that were probably in their teens or tweens when a movie like Sidekicks was released. And you are...

Re: Disney's Pinocchio - Live Action (2022, D: Zemeckis) S: Tom Hanks

The trailer for this popped up on TV while I was getting ready for work. It was my first time seeing it, and this was my impression, too. Were they wanting it to look exactly like the cartoon...

Re: Plex

I was able to get the UHD working. It turns out I had already ripped the Blu-ray but had a typo in the title, which is why it didn't show up when I searched on my computer and wasn't showing as a new...
