Re: House of the Dragon (S1E06) -- "The Princess and the Queen" -- 9/25/22

Just to be clear, was it the antagonistic slant to the post? I'm assuming there's some leeway for mistakes - after all this is the first time most people are being introduced to this person.

Re: House of the Dragon (S1E06) -- "The Princess and the Queen" -- 9/25/22

I think the 10 yr jump was a little too small, might as well have made it 15 - you could cast older actors for the kids, etc. But for the most part I bought the transition... still a risky move...

Re: Avatar (Cameron, 2009) — The Reviews Thread

I'm having trouble finding the time as well. Was hoping it'd hang onto Dolby screens next week, but it looks like those are going to Smile. :(

Re: Movie Theaters

Has there ever been an upper tier movie that has pulled this kind of marketing promotion? This is the kind of scrappy push that lesser known films will use. Nothing wrong with it, they gotta do...

Re: The Rings of Power (S1E05) — “Partings” — 9/23/22

Getting better, but still just some jaw-droppingly awful decisions....
Galadriel sword play - perfect in a Zorro film, not here. Really they're just going to accidently kill someone? Made no sense...

re: Andor (S1E01, E02, E03) - "Kassa", “That Would Be Me”, “Reckoning” - 9/21/22

Just read that these are all essentially filmed as three episode arcs, would love to see these presented as one episode after the season has finished. Would be a nice compromise, and more viewing...

re: Andor (S1E01, E02, E03) - "Kassa", “That Would Be Me”, “Reckoning” - 9/21/22

Well it's nice to have writing, acting and overall competent filmmaking back in Star Wars - it's been awhile! My criticisms:
Show length - for the first time it seems we'll actually have 7hrs of...

Re: House of the Dragon (S1E05) -- "We Light The Way" -- 9/18/22

They mentioned a ten yr jump in the preview? Honestly I thought it'd be closer to 15. I'm sure it was a subject of debate amongst the producers, but given that we've already been through 3.5...

Re: The Woman King (2022, D: Prince-Bythewood) S: Viola Davis, Lashana Lynch, John Boyega

I had just assumed it was an R film, realizing it was PG-13 actually changed my mind about seeing it. Yes, great films don't need to be R but my interest in this was really only for potentially...

Re: Karate Kid 5 (2024) in development

I don't want Cobra Kai: The Movie so I'm fine with it. Of course, they should follow the established storyline as much as they can, maybe bring in the best couple of actors from the series (and...

Re: The Rings of Power (S1E04) — “The Great Wave” — 9/15/22

What a world of difference it made not having the Harfoots here, this was a much more consistent episode all around.

Re: Star Wars: Andor (Disney+) -- news, rumors, etc.

Forgot about my post(s), I think I was probably just frustrated with the incompetency of Lucasfilm more than anything. I'm sure it'll be fine if it's a well made show - which it sounds like it is...

Re: Karate Kid 5 (2024) in development

Yes!! Bring on the legacy sequels! This is a no brainer - 40th anniversary, everyone still looks great, momentum from a successful show. Now, I do hope that this feels more like a film and less...

Re: Star Wars: Andor (Disney+) -- news, rumors, etc.

The issue with the episode length is on several fronts. Nobody had an issue with the WandaVision or Mandalorian episodes, as they were more or less designed that way. The added 5 minutes of...

Re: Biggest disappointments the last 10+ years (2010-present)?

Rise of Skywalker duel between Ray and Ben is the 2nd best in the series (after Empire), and I don't think it's particularly close!

Re: Biggest disappointments the last 10+ years (2010-present)?

It isn't so much that they were that bad, but they should've been so much better. (very much like Indy4) They were so lazy, and so sloppily handled...they get worse as the years pass because you...

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (D: Jenkins)

Indeed, sounds like a great streaming series. They've already damaged the films nearly to ruin (which is why you're seeing the 6+yrs delay) - rebrand them as must see event films.

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (D: Jenkins)

Good! You're as good as your last film and that was one of the biggest falls from a tier 1 director we've ever seen. An absolute embarrassment, Lucasfilm actually did one good thing ditching this...

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (D: Jenkins)

That a new film won't be coming until 2025 is good news. Scrap all of these one-offs and come up with a new trilogy. (makes sense to go with the High Republic)

Re: Indiana Jones 5 (2023, D: Mangold) S: Ford - News, rumors, etc.

Imagine if this film could be next year's Maverick.... that would be so awesome! A long overdue sequel that overdelivers. As big a fan as we all are of Spielberg, I think a new director like...

Re: Batgirl (D: El Arbi / Fallah) - news, rumors, etc.

I wish more companies did, as the online crowd is in no way representative of the far larger general public.

And that goes for the online noise about this film as well. They should ignore it and...

Re: The Rings of Power (S1E03) -- "Adar" -- 9/8/22

I think the Elves/Numanor/Southlands storyline would've been more than enough for this first season.(maybe the first two) The Harfoots are easily the weakest and most disposable storyline, should've...

Re: She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (S1E03) - “The People vs. Emil Blonsky” - 9/1/22

The funny thing is that's what the writers want us to view her as, a piece of meat. Clap that ass Jennifer (what, not upside down?) - that's what you are!

Re: She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (S1E03) - “The People vs. Emil Blonsky” - 9/1/22

This is hilarious, I absolutely defend her going out on her own time and having fun! If only the writers of this show had thought of that...

Re: She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (S1E03) - “The People vs. Emil Blonsky” - 9/1/22

These shows aren't the MCU. They aren't necessary to the films, they are (sadly) a sideshow... what the fat man used to be at the Circus. Now we have twerking She-Hulk to laugh at and mock.
