Re: Rocky IV: The Director's Cut in the works from Stallone

I wonder if we'll see a flood of these cuts to get "new" material out right now with studios still basically shut down.

Also, I hope Paulie's girlfriend/robot will be edited out.

Re: Favorite movie scenes of all-time?

To add to those mentioned:

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: the Ecstasy of Gold, the Mexican standoff, and the bridge detonation scenes.

The Last Jedi: Yoda's cameo.

Godfather II: Vito...

Re: Dagwood and Blondie. The obscure movies

I still enjoy the strip, which is an impressive feat for such an old comic. I totally forgot about the films, but I did watch them as a kid as well.

Re: Justice League (2017, D: Snyder and Whedon) S: Gal Gadot, et al

That's a good point. Maybe Disney will beg Lucas for his blessing to release the original Star Wars films as well...a guy can dream anyway.

Re: COVID-19 Virus -- Movie related news

We have a drive-in opening here after years without, but not until July. Bad timing I suppose, but then again, nothing really to play at the moment.

Re: Official Trump Presidency Thread, Part 3

Tend to agree, but it is weird to me that her husband controls the blind trust. That makes it seem sort of sketchy.

Re: STAR WARS: The Rise Of Skywalker

The documentary was really good. Star Wars always seems to nail the documentaries. It was great to see how many practical effects were used, among other things.

re: COVID-19 POLITICAL Thread

One thing with the food hoarding--if you have school-age kids, there's a good chance you weren't planning on them being home for the next few weeks and now have to shop accordingly.

I suppose that...

Re: COVID-19 Virus -- Movie related news

The box office definitely crashed yesterday. The new offerings weren't going to be huge draws, but the holdovers sunk more than normal patterns as well.

Re: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Abrams, 2019) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Disney released the digital version of this a few days early today since people are trapped at home, and is slapping Frozen II on Disney Plus this Sunday.

Re: COVID-19 Virus -- Movie related news

So far, and it's obviously early, but grosses have followed their normal pattern, more or less. That will change as this thing deepens, obviously, so you are probably right.

Re: COVID-19 Virus -- Movie related news

Seems like a film like New Mutants would actually do better now with no competition rather than saving it for a crowded period.

re: COVID-19 POLITICAL Thread

I have been nagging my boss for years to be able to work from home if needed and he has been procrastinating. D'oh.

Re: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Abrams, 2019) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

There was a line by the hobbit where he mentioned that Palpatine was known for messing with clones or something that I missed on my first viewing so it wasn't totally ignored as a possibility. They...

Re: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Abrams, 2019) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I took my kids to this yesterday-daughter 11 and son 6. They're not huge Star Wars fans but we had been to Disney World recently and they enjoyed the rides, so figured it was now or never to see a...

Yeah, Cruz is at least following the advice of experts, more than can be said about others in his position.

re: COVID-19 POLITICAL Thread

Just hit Nebraska. Our first case is a 36-year old female who is apparently in very serious condition. She was recently traveling in the UK.

Guess they forgot to close that country down.

Re: New! Improved! The 2020 Presidential Election Thread: It's Never Over! Edition

Yeah, that was the other one I thought about. Some think he really took the edge off of Perot's run with his poor performance. I don't know.

Re: Cameron Talks Avatar Redux, 3D, Titanic, Abyss/True Lies Blu-ray

Disney shut off Fox films from D2D last November or so, unfortunately.

re: COVID-19 POLITICAL Thread

I can't watch the video right now, but the cases in Nebraska were people flown in and quarantined at our Med Center, which specializes in that sort of thing, and one of our National Guard centers....

Re: Cameron Talks Avatar Redux, 3D, Titanic, Abyss/True Lies Blu-ray

Well, crap. It wasn't available for D2D when I converted a bunch of stuff, but was apparently added back this summer...before all Fox content was pulled by Disney last fall. Now it's not available to...

Re: Criterion releases on Blu-Rays, Part II

I'm not an autograph collector, but when someone signs their art for a low or minimal charge, it's always a nice touch and feels more meaningful than if you pay big money for one (which I don't...
