Re: Best Find

The OOP Fox edition of Totoro on DVD for $5. Then turned down another one a couple months later for $15. Dumb.

Also two OOP dvds of The Dog Who Stopped the war for $5 and $7 respectively.

Re: What Blu-ray Discs Are You Getting on March 8, 2011?

I think 90% of that 'Something Else' category is for Nausicaa. Somebody underestimated its popularity ;)

Just Nausicaa for me, plus Tales of Earthsea on DVD.

Re: Bambi: Diamond Edition - 3/1

Anyone order the reproduction poster? In Canada shipping almost $7 which is a bit steep in my books. Opinions from anyone who's received it?

Re: Reboot Full Series Boxset via Shout

Reboot is definitely not dead - there's even been talk of a movie and a few other spin-offs. I always found the show kind of boring I'm afraid, but I'm still glad it'll be preserved on DVD.

Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2011 Bluray plans

Almost every Disney film has a direct-to video sequel now, how come they'll only include the sequel this once? Wish they'd be consistent.

Re: The Official "DigiBooks rock!" Thread

Hate to revive a thread from last year but speaking of quality issues with digibooks, I have to ask:

Does anyone else have any problems w/ the digibook release of the original Willy Wonka and the...

Re: Worst DVD covers

I really doubt that any artist was or is keeping any royalties or copyright over movie posters. Criterion and a couple other studios use them on occasion but I think the thinking these days tends to...

Re: Do you still have the very first DVD that you bought/received?

Yup.

It was the promotional disc of Bugs Life that came with early 'blueberry' iMac computers (Apple's first to feature DVD drives). Came in a cardboard sleeve, I think in 4:3 with no special...

Re: Studio Ghibli's first catalog title on blu is 'Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

I know it wasn't the best received of titles, but still...whatever happened to a North American release of Tales of Earthsea? I never got to see this in theatres as it completely skipped Vancouver...

Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)

Seven samurai and Sanjuro thanks to the Future Shop sale. Yojimbo was out of stock. This is the first time I can recall seeing criterions on sale in brick and mortar in Canada..

Re: Studios choking off 3D Blu-ray demand?

That is lame - they should really differentiate them better - not hard to do

Re: Studios choking off 3D Blu-ray demand?

I don' think 3d is the best thing since sliced bread but I don't have a problem with it either. If you don't like it, don't buy it; simple.

There are people for whom this technology makes sense....

Re: Sony introduces new Made on demand program with initial 100 movies

I can understand why people hate the priced of on-demand discs but i don't think it's up to the publishers - i'm fairly certain their net return on these is lower than with standard discs. Why do...

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

Does anyone else find it weird how dramatically different the colours are on these comparisons? That's not just correcting we're talking about, it seems like all-out re-grading. I don't mind the look...

Re: Ps3 scratching disks update/rant

This is obviously the result of the disc sliding in/out of the tray, not spinning, so it could be as simple as adhesive from the felt strips on the loading slot coming off on the disc. Similar...

Re: Ghostwriter Season 1!!!

I for one am glad to see how compact the case is even if it means the glorified booklet gets a little bent. I did find this in brick & mortar; hmv in canada seems to carry it at least. Here's hoping...

Re: Troll 2 (10-5-2010) ???Why??

It is rather amusing how Roger Corman and B-movie cult hits have beaten so many true classics to the Blu-Ray punch but i say the more the merrier. I missed the doc 'Best Worst' so i'm looking ...

Re: A DVD you’re embarrassed to recommend

A. Anything from Asylum or an even lower-budget horror house.
B. Any direct-to-video animated movie (usually a sequel, usually for kids, usually awful...but still somehow enjoyable).

Re: I Hate The Eco Covers

No kidding...there goes the good Bd cases.

I actually think this is a bad marketing move for bd. The 30˘ [absolute max] that these companies must be saving with eco cases can't be worth the...
