Re: Avatar 2: Will it break records, bomb, or just go ďmehĒ?

There were no 3D film prints, all 3D showing were digital then and now.

I can take or leave Avatar, I only hope the sequel does well so thereís more interest in 3D again. I hope it inspires more...

Re: Avatar: The Way of Water (2022, D: Cameron) S: Worthington, Saldana

How so? If it ruined the home video market for a decade, how did it become un-ruined?

Re: What 4K's(and blu rays) have tv edit version?

That was from the original film elements though, in widescreen with no edits. I wouldíve liked to see what was cut out or changed for network TV standards.

Re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - We're number 2, but we try harder

Disney and Fox liked the idea of DIVX much more than regular DVD, as they could control access and make people pay for every viewing if they wanted (some movies but not all could be unlocked for...

Re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - We're number 2, but we try harder

Incidentally itís kind of strange how Paramount is putting out a lot of catalog titles lately, when a couple years ago they werenít putting out many and a lot of older DVD titles had gone out of...

Re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - We're number 2, but we try harder

Still they tried. If the studios didnít want physical media to decline they wouldnít be giving digital such an advantage with early releases, but itís pretty clear that they do. Iíll be happy just to...

Re: What 4K's(and blu rays) have tv edit version?

The Special Edition with the extended ending was released in theaters first. The TV version obviously has a few language edits, and probably other scenes cut for time.

Re: Paramount+ (formerly CBS All-Access) - ViacomCBS streaming service

Well, Iíll watch it then if the 4k disc isnít cheap anywhere by then, and maybe Iíll decide I donít need the disc (or maybe Iíll love the movie and order it right away.)

Re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - We're number 2, but we try harder

True, but digital release dates are still announced a few weeks in advance, and ads often say ďOwn it NOW on digital!Ē with small print saying discs available later. They certainly arenít implying...

Re: What 4K's(and blu rays) have tv edit version?

I have Close Encounters and didnít see a TV version on it. I have an off-air recording of the first showing on ABC, around 1981.

Just bought Alligator on 4k and that includes a TV version. Never...

Re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - We're number 2, but we try harder

Absolutely. Why else would they do that? Theyíre banking on people wanting a movie as soon as possible, so if digital is their only choice thatís what theyíll get, and soon enough theyíll just buy...

Re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - We're number 2, but we try harder

Top Gun being intentionally crippled by releasing on digital a month before discs.

Re: What's the least you've paid for a SINGLE movie?

I bought every Troma disc during that sale, STILL havenít watched them all yet! But part of that is my obsessiveness over watching all the extras even though there are some that are exactly the same...

Re: What's the least you've paid for a SINGLE movie?

Plenty at $0, got a few sealed DVDs at a flea market in Texas that were 2 for $1. Speaking of that, I miss dollar store public domain DVDs, glad I got them when they were out.

re: What's the most you've paid for a SINGLE movie?

$200 for "Memories of Videodisc", the very last CED made before the pressing plant was shut down for good, given to employees afterwards.

Think I paid about $50 for the Sparks at the London Forum...

Re: Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022, D: Appel) - S: Daniel Radcliffe

After Roku dumped private channels Iíve had no reason to use their unit anymore. I mainly use the NVidia Shield with Kodi to watch streaming services without their annoying interfaces and SmartTube...

Re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - We're number 2, but we try harder

Definitely havenít seen a dumpbin at Best Buy recently, I know they had a dumpbin of CDs for a while after they had stopped carrying new titles but they donít have that anymore.

Re: Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022, D: Appel) - S: Daniel Radcliffe

Oddly enough when I had my adblocker on it showed the time bar onscreen at each commercial break. That annoyed me more than just letting the commercials play so I turned the adblocker off and it then...

Re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - We're number 2, but we try harder

One thing Best Buy has done right is no longer stocking new titles on standard DVD. The only DVDs they have now are older TV shows that were shot on standard-def video. But I don't know what's been...

Re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - We're number 2, but we try harder

I was watching them, but usually didn't have anything to add other than the stats were just sad most of the time. Again I have to wonder at this point how much decline in sales is due to stores not...

Re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - We're number 2, but we try harder

Would have been interesting to see the past few weeks as stores have continued to cut stock even more. At this point sales have to be hurting at least in part because thereís just no place left to...
