Re: Metroid Prime 4 --> Switch --> Release TBD

I can't believe they've had this much trouble in development, or that they let it get this far. But - given that they have - major kudos to Nintendo for going so far to get the product right, image...

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

I really think most people are buying them just as Nintendo consoles. For the smaller group who are a bit technically inclined, the modding is a great bonus. The market for plug-and-play consoles...

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

 I absolutely had flashbacks to all the RetroPie bullshit back in 2016 as soon as I read Koby's post.

@Koby: Was honestly quite surprised you said you're on the fence about a Classic after...

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Yes. Again, there is quite obviously a very large, successful console market. It exists due to an entire demographic - correspondingly large - which chooses to game on consoles in the living room...

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

You really don't see the difference between a little console you can take anywhere and running stuff on a PC?

We're talking largely about the same division between people who game mostly on PCs...

Re: Which video game console has the worst standard controller?

The Jaguar actually fit really nicely in the hand and had me excited at first touch (it's molded on the back so it settles into your hands, for those who've never seen one). Turned out the D-pad...

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Yes, you can. Nintendo still not producing online services of any type of quality, in 2018, and now charging for them to boot - is not excusable. Not under any price tag.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games

It's equally as great as any DualShock when playing digital games. I'd rather use one than have those tacked-on analogs sitting there for no reason.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games

If we're going to step into the aftermarket, I still think the SNES comes out ahead.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games

I'm with matty though, I think I want it at $25. Because I'm using the controllers and not the actual crap machine.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games

Eagerly waiting to see now how low they have to go to clear these out. I'll take the two USB controllers for the right price.

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

The replica NES controllers indeed make all the difference when playing those games. Man, they did a great job on those.

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Calling it a surprise is blatantly wrong, whether one finds it important or not.

You're right, though - I have a huge problem with Polygon. It's not acceptable for the most self-important site in...

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Nintendo has long said - and more than once - that these systems were limited and to be available "through the holiday season". Not a surprise.

Wonderful reporting by Polygon as usual -rolleyes-

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Thanks, I know, but not the same. I'm interested in the Battle Pad specifically.

Re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

I actually don't think this is a factor. Over the release period, there were several surprising titles made BC, in that they had relatively tiny sales and got releases before some of the huge titles...

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Anybody gets the Hori Battle Pad, please post impressions. I'm hopeful for it as an inexpensive alternative for not just the GameCube pad, but the Pro Controller in general. Had the Wii U version and...

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games

I don't agree with early 3D having aged badly as a rule. The N64 has aged horrifically to my eye. Good PS1 games, not at all. They have a higher polygon count, no Vaseline blur, and no "fog" hiding...

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games

Companies never learn. You have to do it right, not just hit all the bullet points someone else did. I wish I could say this is going to show Sony something, but I've been through this cycle multiple...

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games

Yeah, that may be worth it. The internals are confirmed to be a good step above the SNES Classic's, and the same hacking community is already preparing to do their thing.

I personally was holding...

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games

Wii Classic Controller Pro :) Or just cherry-pick digital-only games, it's not like Sony even included DualShocks with their Classic.

Re: Playstation Classic -- With 20 preloaded games

Or: sell the NES, open the SNES and mod it to run PSX games. Then play everything. From what we're reading, the modded SNES will run the PSX games better than the actual Sony product anyway..!

Re: Sony going portable... again?

If they do want to try again it's because of the Switch's portability "threat".. PS5 itself clearly is not going to have that capability. That said, they have to somehow keep the new portable in the...

Re: Black Friday 2018

I very rarely go for the transparent look but that is a gorgeous set, particularly in 2018. Are you going to look for a 4th color controller?

No mention of price, so I'm guessing it either cost...
