Re: Russian gulag- why am I just learning about this now?

Yes it's pretty helpful but it got kind of difficult for her to write to me in English so I asked if we could type in Estonian instead. Also learned about my family's involvement with the Forest...

Re: Russian gulag- why am I just learning about this now?

If you're talking to me, I know all too well there's been events not discussed often in the US like the Armenian Genocide, Holodomor etc., but this one somehow slipped under my radar and it was a...

Re: Russian gulag- why am I just learning about this now?

Re: Russian gulag- why am I just learning about this now?

Re: Russian gulag- why am I just learning about this now?

One thing I realized from looking at my grandfather's letters is the deeply ingrained fear they must've had of the Soviets. In the 60s Estonia was still under Soviet rule. They don't ever reference...

Re: Singer Duffy reveals she was 'raped, drugged and held captive’

In the age of "me too" you should expect reactions like that. Same thing went down on Steve Hoffman forum just because the OP put "claims" in the title.

Re: Russian gulag- why am I just learning about this now?

I'd love to see 100 current middle schoolers asked now and see how many would know. My guess would be zero.

Re: Russian gulag- why am I just learning about this now?

I know this type of thread is a unique opportunity for people to claim they know everything about something when they really don't. I talked to a few people about it yesterday and their knowledge of...

Re: Russian gulag- why am I just learning about this now?

I've heard the first book mentioned a few times since reading more about this and am going to check it out. I was watching a video on youtube "Drawings from the Gulag," an English translation of the...

Russian gulag- why am I just learning about this now?

I've had help translating all of my grandfather's letters from family in Estonia that are mostly from the 1960s. One thing that I realized now is that many of my relatives were deported to Russian...

Re: INXS - Kick (30th Deluxe Edition, 3CD's/1 Blu-Ray)

Shabooh Shoobah is their best album to me. Kick is their most popular album no doubt but the best? No way, not to me. That version they did of "The Loved One" sucks compared to the earlier one they...

Re: The Women's March on DC 1.21.17(..and the rest of the world)

You're talking about David Icke with the second part and I forget the part where I called him a hero? Can you help me find that? I enjoy some of his videos OMG!!!!

Re: 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees

Their only good stuff is those first 2 albums I agree. They were fine live. Watch the Musikladen video of them; the drummer is very sick and you'd never even know. I think as far as "new wave" bands,...

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I think there's a pretty good chance it will be unfortunately. My albums were okay, except the Black Album which got dog eared a bit. When I got the Beatles Mono, Queen Studio Collection, Jam box,...

Re: The VINYL Thread!

The Kinks set arrived from popmarket. Packaging was a joke - it was just stuck in a tight box with no packing materials around it so it got dented on the corners of course. Set looks really nice...
