Booster Gold!

I actually was first exposed to Booster Gold on an episode of Justice League Unlimited. My daughter was a big fan, so I bought her the DVD sets. The character of Booster Gold intrigued me. A guy...

Re: Star Wars: What was your ideal vision for the Sequel Trilogy?

I would have focused the first sequel movie (Episode 7) on the remnants of the Empire rebuilding. Some kind of machinations towards rebuilding their military power and behind the scenes manipulation...

Re: Carl Reiner dead at 98

Whenever I think of Carl Reiner, this is what I think of (and he's hardly in the bit). They had a great, clever idea for a Christmas episode - the writers and producers of the show would be the...

Re: The Jaws movies. The Brody family probably were cursed to begin with

I love Jaws and Jaws II. I like Jaws 3, but Jaws The Revenge is a really bad movie. But have you seen the house that it bought Michael Caine?

Re: Carl Reiner dead at 98

The Dick Van Dyke Show is arguably the greatest sitcom of all time. It was a total game changer with an equal focus on Rob Petrie's home and work lives (and how they sometimes intersected). The...

Spider-Man/Kingpin - To The Death (1997)

I got this just recently. It's the last full Spider-Man comic done by the classic team of Stan Lee and John Romita Sr. It's more of a mini-trade graphic novel (like the ones DC sometimes does - 48...

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

At that price it would be silly to skip this deal. Even with some of the titles spread over two books.

$48.11 total shipped for the 10 titles. Even if some of them are split in two like that...

Re: Joe Sinnott has passed away

Most pencil artists' best inker. ;)

Re: Joe Sinnott has passed away

Joe was, in my estimation, the greatest inker of all time. His bold, clean lines made any pencil artist look like a total pro, and made total pros look like legends.

He had a long, full life, and...

Re: Coronavirus: An "Extinction Level Event" for the Direct Market

The two stores I go to in San Diego are still open and seem to be doing OK (Yesteryear Comics and Southern California Comics). I bought about $75 of TPBs from each of them a couple weeks ago.

Re: Danny Masterson (That 70ís Show) charged with 3 counts of rape.

What I find odd is that these charges go back 17-19 years. If he really did it, why did it take so long to file charges? And what kind of evidence could there be nearly 20 years later?

If it's a...

Re: Green Lantern

OK, so I got the first two Green Lantern by Geoff Johns TPB's, and I'm halfway through the first one. Really good stuff so far. GL is becoming one of my favorite characters, regardless of company....

Re: Your Favorite Comic Book Artists

OK, so while thumbing through one of my latest acquisitions (Incredible Hulk Past Perfect TPB), I saw some art that caught my eye. I noticed that the same artist did three issues in that collection,...

Re: Rob Liefeld - Worst comic book artist ever?

I love Ross Andru's work with Romita or Giacoia (or Giordano) inking. But without a strong inker his work is just way too rough and sloppy for me. He was great with poses and expressions and...

Re: Rob Liefeld - Worst comic book artist ever?

Now, that one doesn't look bad to me, but good art is subjective.

I will say this - Andru's pencil work was horribly sloppy. He needed a strong inker like John Romita or Frank Giacoia to make it...

Re: Rob Liefeld - Worst comic book artist ever?

I just ran across something that reminded me of another artist whose work I absolutely hate...

Frank Robbins. Odd poses, sloppy art, weird facial expressions - just really bad work.

Re: Denny O'Neil has passed away at 81

For me, his work was usually good, but not great - but he did write some great stuff along the way. That GL/GA run was excellent for sure.

I was always surprised by how bland and generic his run...

Re: Justice League/JLA

Yeah, reading the Annual last night for the first time it was like, "Yeah, this title's cancelled, so lets UNDO all that we've done with this team." So weird. I loved the 12 issues, but thought the...

Re: Justice League/JLA

I guess being out of touch with comics (especially DC comics) I would have expected that the quality of the comic (both art and writing) would have trumped the line-up.

Besides, Booster Gold is a...

R.I.P. Tonka - Paul Chapman (UFO, Waysted)

Paul 'Tonka' Chapman, the guitar player who had the unenviable task of replacing Michael Schenker in UFO has passed away at age 66.

Paul's biggest crime was NOT being Michael Schenker, something...

Re: RIP Steve Priest, Bassist for The Sweet (1948-2020)

Sweet was a great band. Starting off as a bubblegum Power Pop band (and a really good one at that), and morphing into something heavier and more substantial - but still melodic and dynamic - Sweet...

Re: RIP Bob Kulick (1950-2020)

I met Bob about 20 years ago. He was bitter and resentful then, but with a smile and a sense of humor about it. It was a very uncomfortable and weird conversation (with him taking shots and Paul...

I picked up both Justice League International trades for the brief New 52 run of the title. I mentioned Aaron Lopresti's art in the Favorite Artist thread, and that's what sold me on the books when...

Re: Justice League/JLA

The sad thing is that #200 is a phenomenal issue. It really deserves to be reprinted (as do all of the issues from that era).

I'll have to check out the Detroit Omnibus, though.
