Re: Vote For Your Favorite Best Picture Nominee (2019 Oscars)

Haven't seen them all but I guess Green Book. None of the noms really excite me much.

Re: Stephen King's IT: Chapter 2 (2019, D: Muschietti) -- New, Rumors, etc

Yikes. Not a good sign if "the first is better" since the first was only OK.

Re: Disney's Aladdin (2019, D: Ritchie) S: Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott

Really fucking weird.

I have a feeling this is going to be legendarily bad.

Re: Terminator: Dark Fate (2019, D: Miller) Schwarzenegger, Hamilton -- Cameron producing

I heard from a friend last night that Eddie Furlong apparently shot a cameo for this.

Re: The One and Only Shout and Scream Factory Blu-ray Thread

Even though I get every SF title for review, I had to order the NotC set. That Atkins figure is just too cool. $70 is steep but a splurge every now and then is a good thing.

Re: The Man Who Killed Hitler and then The Bigfoot (Sam Elliott)

I attempted to watch this with a friend tonight but we got about 38 minutes in and he wanted to give up, so I agreed. Shockingly dull so far. I plan on finishing it in the morning but not the camp...

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX (12/20/19, W/D: J.J. Abrams)

Some hardcore fans? Maybe.

Joe Six Pack? Not a fucking chance. Let me tell you, as someone who goes to Disney regularly the average person is still VERY much into SW and even if this latest...

Re: Child's Play Reboot (2019, D: Klevberg) S: Aubrey Plaza, Bryan Tyree Henry, Gabriel Bateman

Same thing I was thinking but... did I see some kind of hearing aid in his ear? I wonder if the film is going the route of "everyone bullies me, I have no friends" so mom buys him the doll? Still...

It seems pretty clear Brother Paul is lip syncing to a backing track.

Re: Halloween 2: The Third -- News, rumors, etc.

I thought H'18 was OK, and I'm always game for another sequel, but I'd rather we move past the Strode women and on to newer things. I feel like Laurie said all she needed to in the last film.

Re: Shaft (2019, D: Tim Story) S: Jessie T. Usher, Jackson, Roundtree, Hall

Gotta say, that trailer surprised me. Three generations of "Shaft"? This, I can dig. As long as the tone doesn't go TOO far into comedy this could be a fun ride.

Re: Jumanji 3 (2019, D: Jake Kasdan) -- New, rumors, etc.

Didn't need/want the teens or Jonas back, since it would've been better to see the main cast playing as avatars for different personalities. Maybe they'll switch them up this time? Either way, I...

Re: Future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects discussion thread - News, rumors, etc.

Nobody should be shocked by this. Audiences have shown they'll pay for entertaining R-rated superhero films. Disney likes making money. They aren't stupid.

Re: The Haunting of Sharon Tate (2019, D: Farrands) S: Hilary Duff

I had the displeasure of working on the second film in this "series", the one about Nicole Brown Simpson that they can't seem to sell because - SHOCKER - no one wants to touch a film exploiting her...

Re: Shaft (2019, D: Tim Story) S: Jessie T. Usher, Jackson, Roundtree, Hall

Oh, I get it. It's because they're black and have big penises. Hilarious.

Man, Jessie T. Usher looks completely out of his depth. Should've just had it be Jackson again and done a proper sequel.

Re: RIP: Dick Miller (Gremlins) - Dead at 90

One of my favorite character actors ever. I got to meet him once at a screening and he was such a genuine guy. Total legend.

Re: Army of the Dead (D: Zack Snyder) - Netflix

Sounds fun but that title is either reserved for a movie Romero never made or some shitty DTV flick. They could do better.

re: Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019, D: Berlinger) -- S: Zac Efron as Ted Bundy -- Netflix

Early reviews are saying this is quite good, giving Efron praise, but the lack of unibrow and Ted having a shirtless scene both seem a little groan-worthy.

Re: 2019 Oscar Pre-award show discussion, nominees, etc.

Black Pander.

Man, what a horrid crop of noms.

Give it all to Green Book.
