Re: Let's talk about Ultra HD Blu-ray

So you we one of those 500 people that bothered for The Dark Knight. (I'm exaggerating... It was actually way less. Worked with the company that hosted it...)

re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - #2, but we try harder

There is no 4K 3D content theatrically, and there is no 4K 3D even planned for the new format at this point.

It may change, but for now, it's not going to happen.

Re: Let's talk about Ultra HD Blu-ray

Well, I think that there will be a test run for the Masters on Direct TV, so their tuners must be out there now.

I have a feeling that while The Masters is always associated with CBS, this might...

Re: If physical media went away completely, would you be ok?

I agree with Coral... If physical media isn't offered I will quit purchasing movies.

This is going to be the toughest problem for the film industry, since I'm one of the last generations that...

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th

Um... OK, but I think the force is strong with this one. I wouldn't be surprised if we see UHD out of the blocks.

Re: Pacific Rim 2 (del Toro, 8/4/2017)

I think Disney's scrapped it already. (Tomorrowland didn't help.) I don't think it was on their master list through 2020.

Re: Bad Boys / Bad Boys II - 11/10/15

And thus, I will wait for the initial Ultra 4K BD announcements from Sony in the next few months or CES.

Odds are 99.9% that all of these recent "Mastered in 4K" titles (or Superbit 2.0s), will be...

Re: Let's talk about Ultra HD Blu-ray

I concur with this... The studios have to start looking at what Disney and Warner are doing. If it wasn't working, they wouldn't have direct marketing exclusives like Warner Archives or the...

Re: Let's talk about Ultra HD Blu-ray

Alan, slight corrections...

When Pioneer was in it's hey-day, say late 1980s/early 1990s, they had distribution for Paramount and Live (Artisan - Lionsgate)

Image Entertainment distributed...

re: Blu-ray and DVD sales - #2, but we try harder

Or paying... They believe they are entitled to their entertainment cheap and free.

The future of a digital-only industry is ugly, and some of the studios are starting to realize this.

Re: Article: Blu-Ray Producers Say Studios Should Shift Expectations About Physical M

But here's the deep dark secret that no one wants to talk about... Those grand billion dollar deals that the studios have with Netflix and Vudu? That's it, those aren't going up... Netflix has...

Re: Article: Blu-Ray Producers Say Studios Should Shift Expectations About Physical M

Bruce I have to disagree here... As far as I'm concerned "streaming" is both rental and EST. Just because you can download an EST file, doesn't make it any different.

You honestly do not own that...

Re: July 15 Amazon Prime Day

More likely it is an attempt to build up Amazon Prime Memberships.

Since Amazon has yet to turn a profit, I would not be stunned to see them eventually require Prime to shop for discounts on their...

Re: Last BD (or, unrealistically, HD DVD) you watched?

If we never hear from JeffTheAlpaca again it's understandable. He's probably thrown himself off a bridge or in front of a bus after watching Revolutionary Road.

Re: Southpark early seasons now HD?

They were, but since all the episodes we're assembled in a computer, they have been able to go back and re-do them in HD.

Re: Is home 3D dead ?

Yeah, but due to consumer demand, they've pulled the plug on 3D in the Dome completely, which is their biggest theater.

They're only showing 3D in one of their smaller theaters. Age of Ultron will...

Re: Star Wars Digital Movie Collection

Honestly, if this digital release was breaking any ground and actually selling tons, Disney would be crowing about it. It's been available for two weeks now.

Re: What will be no.1 at the B.O Avengers AOU weekend 3 or Mad Max FR opening weekend

Pitch Perfect 2 - $45-$50 million
Avengers - $40 - $45 million
Mad Max - $30 - $35 million

Like a few have said, outside of us old timers, most people aren't going to care about Mad Max. It's...

Re: Star Wars Digital Movie Collection

If I remember correctly, Fox footed the full bill back in the '70s. It's been a long time since I read Skywalking which discussed the whole deal.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall

Shot natively in 3D is the biggest lie in the industry, just an FYI... All film are still post converted to an extent, especially if they have CGI elements.

If any shot in the "Rouge Cut" requires...

Re: Could Batman TAS Ever Be Released on Blu Ray?

In a semi-related note, that can give us some hope... At WonderCon, the Warner Archive Panel will be previewing the Blu-ray release of Teen Titans Go!

I wouldn't say that, considering all of the smaller WB animated shows that have been released through the archive program. They may just be waiting until next year to cross promote with Justice...

If Fox still controls Raw Deal, then I see that as a possibility. (Be nice to see that and Rapid Fire.)

A Bronx Tale was HBO, but looks to have moved over to Universal since, so I don't see...

re: Let's talk about Ultra HD Blu-ray

Well, one major sequel that was released last year was shot in HFR, but everyone involved with the production was told to not talk about it... And the studio never bothered to release it in HFR.
