Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

The PS4 is fine for "regular gaming," but the PS4 Pro offers higher resolutions and/or better performance in certain titles.

Here's a list of games that are "enhanced" in some way on the PS4 Pro:...

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

"Tetris Attack" was a port of the first Panel de Pon game to the US. Later US ports have been rebranded as "Puzzle League" in the US. They're exclusively on Nintendo consoles, although there hasn't...

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

Pluto TV has been around for quite a while. It's ad supported streaming, with some "live channels" to watch, but you're not getting any OTA or most cable channels. The only cable channels are a few...

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

They're probably setting an outer bound, but 2019 doesn't seem likely either; we'd have heard more rumors about it by now. 2020 is a possibility, but don't think Sony wants to commit to a date this...

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

You can't move an internal drive between PS4s without the new one reformatting the drive. If you really want to move your drive, you should back up your existing PS4 to an external drive, move the...

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

It's about 4.5 years old. The PS4 was released November 15, 2013. 4.5 years would be May 2018. 5.5 years would be May 2019. 7 years would be November 2020.

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

Yeah, both PS4 Pro and XB1X were "mid-generation" upgrades that are backwards compatible. The PS4 Pro just came out earlier and is a bit cheaper, so is overall less powerful.

Yeah, the PS4 Pro...

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

The PS4 and XB1 consoles both use GPUs integrated into the SoC, so they're not as susceptible to the cryptocurrency demand.

The only reason prices on dedicated graphics cards have spiked in price...

Well, if you want to be considerate to others in the hotel, You could only hook the PS4 up to run updates overnight, when most are asleep.

Do many hotels even have ethernet ports? I've stayed in quite a few where it was wifi or nothing.

Games and game updates aren't transferrable like that though. There's a...

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

I don't think so.

For digital purchases, the ability to play two copies from one purchase is mostly a side-effect of how they implemented authentication. The "main" console stores authentication...

Do you mean the HDMI port on the PS4?

eBay has a guide, it requires soldering.

Amazon has some replacement...

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

2160p240 is just nuts, even for a next-gen console. HDMI doesn't even support 240hz; the most recent HDMI standard, 2.1, only supports up to 120hz.

BTW, this analyst just recently predicted that...

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

Good to know, updated my post.

So I guess those that already own a few titles don't get as much of a value, but still, at $15 it's probably still a good value.

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

From what I've read, game saves all have to go to the internal drive, and the OS is solely on the internal, so it doesn't use the external "just as" it does the internal. But you can have an external...

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

Sounds like Sony isn't seeing the number of Pro-enhanced games they were hoping for, at least in terms of patches to legacy games, so they're saying "fuck it, we'll enhance them ourselves." From the...

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

Well, you don't have to backup. But stingermck is correct that it will reformat the drive, and if he doesn't have a backup, he's going to have to redownload everything instead.

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

A bundle of The Last Guardian and the Slim, aka, the PS4 it barely runs on? Bundling it with the Pro would've made some sense, but might've been seen as Sony tacitly acknowledging you need the Pro to...
