Re: Star Wars: Visions (Anime Anthology; Disney+) - 9/22/2021

Watched the first one, pretty neat concept, the film damage was a nice touch. And cool timing using the droid and whistling birds.

Re: The One & Only DOCTOR WHO DVD Thread (8th Incarnation)

Yeah, I really wish Jodie had worked out better. I loved her concept but she just had poor scripts.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

That looks right. Despite how it looks it’s a lot of fun.

Re: Doctor Who (BBC America) -- Series 13 Discussion Thread -- coming in 2021

Yeah, it would still be nice for JMS to have input.

But as much as I’ve defended Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker, they were more often than not let down by poor stories (Jodie especially). They...

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

No, I can’t figure out Picross games. I have no idea what it’s called, it’s themed with fairy girls and it’s a drop and match type game.

Re: Novelizations of films based on books

I also recall having a storybook version of The Secret of NIMH, which was based on the novel Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIMH.

I imagine we could do a whole list of these where they made a movie...

Re: XLIII Random Pic Thread, The Knights Who Say "Ni!" edition.

I showed that toilet to my wife and commented that I’d watch an entire Netflix documentary about that type of architecture/plumbing.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

The classic portals are what I use the most on my Switch Lite , to be honest. There’s a Japanese puzzle game on the SNES one that is really fun.

re: Super Mario Bros (2022) - Illumination - V: Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor Joy, Jack Black

What an uninspired cast, save for Jack Black.

I mean, Sonic got Idris Elba to play Knuckles, you think they could stretch out a little.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

If it’s not too much extra money I can see us easily adding the second tier. That’s some good stuff to have access to.

Re: Only Murders in the Building (Hulu) - S: Short, Martin, Gomez - premieres 8/31/21

Wife was interested (she's getting into that phase of her life where she likes the murder story stuff), so we watched the first ep which wasn't really doing anything for us, until the last few...

Re: Ted Lasso (Apple TV +) -- S: Jason Sudeikis -- From the creator of Scrubs

I know we're behind, but I have to call out the Christmas episode that we just watched.

Absolutely full of corny, schmaltzy, cliched, holiday nonsense with an utterly unbelievable subplot of...

Re: Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022, D: Yates)

I thought the first one was an interesting idea, if it were just about Newt playing magical Pokémon gotta-catch-em-all. The thing with the abused kids was just weird. We've never gotten around to the...

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (CBS All-Access) — Animated — Premieres 8/6/20

D’Vani was on some of the press release material so it was known to the audience but maybe not spoken in the show till this episode.

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Paramount +) -- News and Rumors

That's a great point. There's day by day stuff but also things always going on in the background.

Re: Novelizations of films based on books

That's right, I had that storybook until earlier this year, I downsized a lot of extra things like that to make space. It had a lot of stills from the movie and a condensed version of the story.

Re: Novelizations of films based on books

I'm also reminded of the modern English translations of Shakespeare's plays. My high schooler has one for Romeo & Juliet that has two columns on each page with the original dialog and then a modern...

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (CBS All-Access) — Animated — Premieres 8/6/20

Andorrans met humans way back in Archer’s time, it’s very possible there’s been intermarriage or some Andorian just really liked the name.

Re: Anyone else down for non-continuity Star Wars novels done in an “Elseworlds” type of format?

I read the first High Republic novel. It wasn't a blockbuster but it was a nice change of pace from the usual.

Aren't they in the new continuity though?

Re: The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021, D: Joel Coen) S: Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand

Not sure if serious?

Looks very moody, and I love the MPAA rating of R for VIOLENCE.
