1080i vs 720p

I have a 5 year old set that can support up to 1080i. I have been keeping it set at 720p but I'm wondering if 1080i looks better. Which should I set it at?

Best Finds in the $5 bin.

Whenever I am at Wal-Mart, I go to the $5 bin to see if I can find anything decent. I am usually very surprised when I find something in there worth watching but in fact two of my favorite movies...

Re: Is image quality everything to people?

I think people need to know that the formats co-exist. That's the way it is in my collection. I don't talk about new blu-ray's or dvds, I talk about new movies I got because they both contain films,...

Re: Is image quality everything to people?

I realize that.

Yes story and character but the aspect ratio is important to the story. And before you say anything, yes, the visuals are important as well.

Is image quality everything to people?

I didn't post this in the Blu-Ray forum because I know the answer will be yes. My question is, is image quality everything to people? It seems people care more about the image quality of a film than...

Re: Theatrical Cut or Extended Cut: Your Preferences

I know that me prefering the theatrical cut is strange, but the theatrical cut felt faster to me. I did enjoy the continuity fixes in the Director's Edition but it was just long and boring.

Re: Best Version of Blade Runner to show to people for the first time

Most names are said in the Final Cut except for Gaff (not knowing his name does add mystery). I am fine with names but I was just saying that some characters never have their names said. There wasn't...

Best Version of Blade Runner to show to people for the first time

I own the four disc collectors edition which has all cuts except for the workprint. I have viewed all of the versions I have, yet I don't know which cut I want to show to a friend of mine who is...

Re: First DVD you watched?

I can barely remember because I was a kid when I first watched one. My dad showed me Lost in Space and Spiderman. Those were the first DVD's I can remember watching.

Re: Who hates the eco cases?

I honestly don't mind the snapper cases. They still protected the disc, but the eco cases make me afraid of putting them on the shelf.

Who hates the eco cases?

I have multiple dvd's packaged in those stupid eco cases. How could anybody like them? They're flimsy and they seem to barely protect your disc. I have some titles that might be crushed because of...

Re: Repackaging discs from a box set.

I'm talking about the one titled "The Collection" that's about 35 dollars on Amazon. Are there any free cover sites that work for this or is this the best one?

Repackaging discs from a box set.

I'm really considering the recent Friday the 13th boxset, but I heard that the packaging sucks. I want to be able to repackage the discs into slim keepcases. The only issue is the artwork. Any tips?

Re: Am I the only person who still buys DVDs?

I have in fact not watched Blu-Ray on a good setup. I have watched it though. Now, I'm not saying that Blu-Rays suck because they look and sound just great. I'm just making a point about how good the...

Re: Am I the only person who still buys DVDs?

 I started collecting in '05 but I wasn't serious until about late 2010. I barely have chances to expand the collection. Plus, I own a lot of TV shows and a few miniseries and such.
