Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 17th Annual DVDTalk Holiday Challenge (11/21 - 1/1)

I took a break from Holiday movies the past 2 nights and watched The Witcher, Season 1 instead. But I want to get back to it tonight before the season ends! Really enjoyed so many new movies this...

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 17th Annual DVDTalk Holiday Challenge (11/21 - 1/1)

Yeah, Father Christmas is Back is not great. Silent Night is a waaaay better "Christmas at the English manor house with oddball family" movie.

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 17th Annual DVDTalk Holiday Challenge (11/21 - 1/1)

I've been watching a lot of Hallmark and Lifetime. Not in the mood to revisit old favorites yet, though I may closer to Christmas. We did have friends over and I was able to introduce them to Elf,...

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 17th Annual DVDTalk Holiday Challenge (11/21 - 1/1)

Good news!

I've been watching a lot of Hallmark, GAC Family, & Lifetime, but the few stand outs to me lately were not those.
- Silent Night (on Amazon - you can sub to AMC+ for 7 days for free)....

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 17th Annual DVDTalk Holiday Challenge (11/21 - 1/1)

That stinks! If you still have internet, I've seen streaming all the new Lifetime, Hallmark, and GAC movies on frndly. It's pretty cheap and they have everything at the same time cable does. Might be...

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 17th Annual DVDTalk Holiday Challenge (11/21 - 1/1)

Cool! Good news about Roku. I've recently subscribed to Frndly TV. They carry all the Hallmark channels, UPTV, GAC, and they just added the Lifetime channels as well. It's a good way to watch the...

Thanks for all the suggestions! That will help a lot. I can always rewatch Rudolph. :-)

Hallmark has a "Christmas Sail" out this year, but I already watched it. I'm sure I can find...

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 17th Annual DVDTalk Holiday Challenge (11/21 - 1/1)

Thanks for finessing the checklist, The Monkees! A lot of good stuff on here.

I'm still scratching my head a bit about the first "select 5" set. A number of those things seem impossible to find or...

I've already got the house decorated and I've been watching most of the new Christmas movie debuts. 19 new Christmas movies so far. lol.
Love Hard is my favorite. For Bruce Campbell fans, One...

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 17th Annual DVDTalk Holiday Challenge (11/21 - 1/1)

If we do "genres", you could add disaster movies. There are at least a few Christmas disaster movies which are quite fun.

This lists a few:...

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 17th Annual DVDTalk Holiday Challenge (11/21 - 1/1)

- based on a video game
- takes place in space
- silent film

These all seem suspect to me for holiday viewing.
I second Travis's suggestion of "genres", and I like his "protagonist" suggestions...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I rewatch films only if I saw them so long ago I don't remember much about them. I've rewatched a few that I'd forgotten 90% of, so it's practically a new movie to me. lol BLOOD FOR DRACULA is one....

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I ended with 117 total (with 1 wildcard) and closed out with Slaxx and Halloween Kills. My list is complete.
I hit all my goals for this year -- 100 movies, subset, theme nights, checklist. But I...

Re: "Slaxx" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

I didn't love this as much as I expected. The whole uber trendy clothing company was so broadly played. It was more annoying, the way it is annoying in real life, than funny. The whole girl from...

Re: "Halloween Kills" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

I liked seeing all the original actors from the original film, and the "townspeople fight Michael" theme was cool. Jamie Lee Curtis is always a delight. The gay couple who bought the Myers house were...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Happy Halloween, everyone! We're ending out tonight with HALLOWEEN KILLS. I didn't get in everything I'd hoped to this month, but I got in a lot on my TBW pile. A good thing!

Re: "Opera" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

I love this. The opera sequences take it to a whole other level. Amazing set pieces. My favorite giallo by far.

Re: "Body Bags" Reviews/Discussion - 2021 Horror Challenge

This was fun. What a cast. Loved the Mark Hamill one. The hair one was stupid, but god bless Stacy Keach anyway. The gas station one was solid horror. The first time I saw this in 2017 I gave it a 5....
