Re: Announced but never seen.

No reason was given, just never released. In 2 years it will mark the films 20th anniversary, if it's not released onto DVD/Blu-ray at that point or whatever, whoever has the rights to distribute the...

Bugsy...

Re: Planes, Trains And Automobiles: Those Aren't Pillows Edition (10/20/2009)

Excellent review droidguy1119, thankyou. :)

I agree with you that if you own the previous release and are not a fan of the film or a videophile no upgrade is really needed here since the extras...

Re: Planes, Trains And Automobiles: Those Aren't Pillows Edition (10/20/2009)

Same. I couldn't resist, the lenticular slipcover is really cool and this is one of my favorite films ever so I don't mind being out $10 more on it.

Re: Planes, Trains And Automobiles: Those Aren't Pillows Edition (10/20/2009)

Taken from the review from Digitalbits.com for the previous release:

The new version has taken care of this problem, it is without a doubt the best Planes, Trains, and Automobiles has ever...

Re: Planes, Trains And Automobiles: Those Aren't Pillows Edition (10/20/2009)

Same. The good news is that this is worth the upgrade, the original release had a good but not great transfer, but this new version proudly displays the film with lots of detail and a natural, sharp...

Re: Planes, Trains And Automobiles: Those Aren't Pillows Edition (10/20/2009)

Thanks for the pics. That revised artwork is much, much better. There still could be a slight chance that the Christmas cover is out there (they could have printed half like this, half with the...

Re: What was the first DVD that you purchased?

this kind of rhymes, but the first DVD I ever purchased was:

Se7en in 1997 (the snapper case, flipdisc version)

Of course that was years before the New Line 2-disc edition was released, great...

Re: observe and report - september 22nd, 2009

I was gonna buy this today but I'll wait. I enjoyed this film quite a bit, but there isn't much on this version at all, a movie only purchase basically, courtesy of Warner.

Re: The Hangover --> Dec. 15th!

One of my favorite films of the year, please let there be some kind of cool exclusive for it someplace (2-disc steelbook at fye or a best buy exclusive etc). I'm in for this release!

Re: Three Amigos new DVD anamorphic?

chuckd21 and droidguy1119, I bit. It's the same non-anamorphic DVD in a keepcase. I basically would have been better off just flushing a $5 dollar bill down the toilet. Love the film, it's a classic...

Re: When, when, WHEN??!? Where are these movies???

Some people can't stand PAL. On some region free players you get PAL speedup and the sound can be out of sync on certain models. It really all depends on your home theater setup, and some people...

Re: Steven Seagal's The Keeper 12/31/2009

Just heard that Criterion is getting a nice 2-disc edition of "Above The Law" ready, complete with a nice booklet and a fancy replica of Seagal's pony tail. Can't wait!

j/k

I agree with above...

Re: When, when, WHEN??!? Where are these movies???

I caved in and bought the UK R2 SE of Ishtar, which was totally worth it. Have no idea why this can't get a catalogue release in the USA with a just fine DVD out in Europe.

I believe Blue City got...

Re: When, when, WHEN??!? Where are these movies???

Overseas, yes, but not everyone wants to import a DVD. You have your renters (Netflix, Redbox) and if a movie is not on DVD is goes unnoticed unless it's on TV all the time. Both those films should...

Re: Howard The Duck: Special Edition --> March 10, 2009!

I picked this one up on release day, it is a superb DVD.

Howard The Duck may not be a cinematic masterpiece, but it has a cult following as a 1980's classic and the Universal DVD does a great job...

This used to bother me but I don't care what the studios do anymore with their pressings. What I can tell you is that movie studios that used to do nice disc art have abandoned the idea for the last...
